A/N: I love Violet to death, she's one of my favorite characters in Waiting For Sunrise, so here's her playlist. Songs are italicized, explanations are under them. I'd love to hear any of your questions or comments.

Evermore - Taylor Swift ft. Bon Iver

This is all the pain and trauma she has been through in her young life, how its affected her, and how she is starting to overcome it with Kate and Rafe filling parental roles for her.

Brand New City - Mitski

When Violet leaves her old life prior to WFS and joins the savages, this song is the one to represent that. Also cities are a thematic motif for Violet because duh.

Wish That You Were Here - Florence + The Machine

I love this song and I LOVE this band so much, and this song is so Violet because she's this dreamy child whose growing up but also is always connected to Kate and Rafe and its only when they're together that they can truly be happy.

Hold The Girl - Rina Sawayama

This is the Kate and Violet song. They have a mother and daughter relationship and through raising Violet, Kate also reclaims herself and helps another child find the childhood that she lost.

Bitter End - The Chicks

This is like. A Savages song. Okay. It's a song for celebration and for goodbyes and its for old friends who are heading into the unknown, and that's WFS and that version of the Savages, especially Violet who found her family with them.

In My City - Ellie Goulding

NYC is the backdrop of this book and its also the backdrop of Violet's character arc and this song represents her finding her confidence there.

Lights - Journey

Violet is heavily connected to the savages of course, because that's the whole point of this AU, and this song about fondness for ones city really fits how she feels about the place that is her home.

You're On Your Own, Kid - Taylor Swift

Violet grows as a character discovering her own internal strength and building bonds of family, and I think this song shows how she goes from being on her own and being so scared to knowing now that even if she is on her own, its not forever and she has the courage to face it in the time being.

Bloomed Into Blue - Maya Hawke

Here we have another great coming of age song to describe her journey, but also the blue imagery here really fits her, this blue eyed city girl who likes looking at the water.

Thursday Girl - Mitski

This song is short and sweet and it fits Violet's affinity for the night and the shadows. That's all.

Burning Pile - Mother Mother

This is the song for Violet's rough past and her relationship with her magic, as well as her biological parents. It also slaps so there's that.

Chosen Family - Rina Sawayama

ITS ABOUT THE KATE/RAFE/VIOLET FOUND FAMILY DYNAMIC!!! These three have my heart and this is the song for how they found and chose each other against all odds.

O Children - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Waiting For Sunrise is about found family and youth and history and how those who love each other must overcome challenges, and I feel like this song showcases both the bonds between people and the darkness and challenges of the story.

Ribs - Lorde

Usually this song is a teen girl anthem to me but I feel like the vibes also extend to Violet embracing her childhood even in the middle of chaos and finding a family with the Wibberlys.

Seven - Taylor Swift

This song fits Violet's relationship with the savages and how even though they may go their separate ways or be torn apart, she will always love them as they were her first home and where she learned to be herself.

Class Of 2013 - Mitski

Class Of 2013 is a song about a girl pleading to her mother for help and I think that's how Violet is when she first meets Kate. She's desperate for a mother figure, she's scared, and she wants someone to support her. Kate, of course, provides this, and the rest is history.

Vincent - Don McLean

I feel as though this song (which is beautiful and sad) fits Violet's creativity and wisdom and the way that she sees the world. Violet has a very shy and solemn personality but hides such hidden beauty and power and this song is all about those depths.

The Dead Waltz - Radical Face

Another found family song in a way, but this one with a creepy and dreamy spin that really fits Violet and the way Rafe and Kate are protecting her. It also fits the Separation coming and the fear of magic spreading throughout the story.

Fallen Fruit - Lorde

This is a fever dream haze of a song and the vibes are just so blue and a mix of nostalgia and sadness and contentment and I think that is the attitude that Violet often has when facing down the world.

Sidelines - Phoebe Bridgers

If any song is Violet's theme song, this is the one. Violet is, when we first meet her, an observer of all things, always hiding in the shadows, until she learns to embrace the light by also embracing her relationships with others and her own magic and creativity.

From The Gutter To The Stars - Emilie Autumn

This song fits the challenges of growing up a thief, the relationships that define Violet, and the imagery is just so dark and yet hopeful and it fits her so well. This song just tells a story tbh.
