No one should be surprised by this, but I decided it was about time I made a playlist of songs reminding me of my favorite TBOB character (and one of my favorite characters ever). The songs are in bold and my explanations of why I chose them are underneath. Feel free to comment what you think about this playlist; I'd be delighted to talk about it.

A Thousand Years - Christina Perri

This song shows Kate's unwavering strength and the belief and love she has for everyone she cares about. It also reminds me of the atlas and time traveling, in a way.

Lights - Ellie Goulding

Another song that represents Kate being strong and responsible, this one suits her, especially because there's a line in the song about the narrator/perspective having a brother and a sister that they seem responsible for. Which obviously connects to Kate.

Barbies - P!nk

Here's a song that's all about growing up too fast and wishing you could go back. Kate had to give up her childhood and take on the responsibility of raising her siblings. Having to fill that parental roll definitely took a toll on her and I can definitely see her wishing she had more time to be carefree and innocent, even though she knows it's not possible.

Love Of My Life - Queen

Kate goes through so much throughout the series, and her love life is no exception. This song encaptures the feelings of betrayal and sorrow she experiences when Rafe is the Dire Magnus, as well as her hope and determination to get him back.

Heartbeat - Carrie Underwood

This song really captures those quiet moments Kate wants to last forever, especially her dance in the snow with Rafe, where she listens to his heartbeat

The Times They Are A-Changin' - Bob Dylan

This one also fits with Kate's powers over time, especially since she has time traveled to multiple places in the past to change things and find her destiny. It also suits the positive impact she has on people and the world, in my opinion.

She Used To Be Mine - Sara Bareilles

This is another song that represents Kate's carrying the weight of the world and losing her innocence so young. It shows the moments when she feels broken by all she has gone through and how she's fighting to survive. It's quite a beautiful song too, with both soft and big moments, and it really connects to Kate.

Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper

Kate has a lot of strength, which comes in part from the belief she has in her loved ones. She is always there to support them. This song shows how she's always there for them, and also is about time, fitting with her status as Keeper of the Atlas.

A Kind Of Magic - Queen

A Kind of Magic is about overcoming the odds and doing the impossible, which Kate is an old pro at. It's messages are large and relate to fantasy and the books of beginning well, and also discussing how, "this rage that's lasted a thousand years will soon be gone" which goes so great with the fact that Kate defeated the Dire Magnus when she stabbed Rafe through the heart.

Yellow Flicker Beat - Lorde

Here's another one with a fantasy/apocalyptic feel to it. This one is a lot darker and I feel really captures the fact that Kate has to fight to survive, and so much responsibility has made it so that she would do anything and everything to save her loved ones. It touches on the fighter in Kate, and the fire she had that never goes out.
