"We're lost, aren't we?" Michael questioned, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. His little sister shot him a glare.

"We are not lost. I know exactly where we're going!"

"You do," Wilamena said hopefully, "oh, that's wonderful!"

"She's lying, Wil. She's been leading us around for forty five minutes and she has no clue what she's doing," Michael explained.

Emma stuck out her tongue, "you'll be eating your words when I have us out of here in no time."

"What I want to be eating is those cookies mom made yesterday, but I won't get the chance if we die of thirst in a corn maze because someone has no sense of direction!"

"Oh shut up, you're just mad because I'm a better leader than you!"

"Rabbit..."

"That isn't even close to why I'm mad. Though, if you had let me bring my compass, I would have had us out of here already!"

"Rabbit."

"Your stupid compass couldn't get you out of a paper bag!"

"RABBIT!" Wilamena yelled, grabbing his arm and getting the two arguing Wibberlys to finally shut up.

"Yes Wilamena?" Michael asked his girlfriend, a little shocked by how loud she could raise her voice when she wanted. And he thought her excited shouting was ear shattering. Wow.

"Haven't we passed that scarecrow at least twice before?" The elf princess asked with a little impatience. When her dear friends had invited her along to a little farm filled with fall fun, to play games and get pumpkins for Halloween, she had been excited to spend time with them and participate in their human activities. She had forgotten that when Michael and Emma started arguing it was absolutely exhausting

Michael groaned, "great, we're going in circles. This is all your fault, Emma!"

Emma reacted to this accusation in the way she always tended to when in conflict with her brother; with arguing. "Excuse me, I'm the one who Gabriel's teaching to be a warrior. That includes tracking lessons. The only reason we aren't out of here is because you keep distracting me!"

Michael opened his mouth to retort. Wilamena cut him off, "ok, I'll be the leader now! Follow me!"

The two siblings exchanged glances, then shrugged. They decided to go along with it, because, well, Wilamena couldn't do any worse than them.

That still didn't stop their arguing though, never let it be said that Emma and Michael were not skilled in the art of 'walk and talk'. Poor Wilamena heaved a heavy sigh.

"Now I see why Kate and Rafe opted out of the corn maze," she muttered.

..........................................

It took them another long twenty-five minutes, but the three children finally made it out of the corn maze.

They found a bored and getting mildly worried Richard and Clare waiting for them and sighing heavily when they heard how the trio had become hopelessly lost (or maybe the sighing was because Michael and Emma kept trying to blame each other for the getting lost). They also found Kate and Rafe, who were sipping cider and chatting, having taken advantage of the peace and quiet while the younger children were off in the maze.

"Don't ask," Emma growled when Rafe saw them walking over and smirked.

"I won't," he said with the kind of amusement that suggested he would listen for now, but would probably end up teasing her about this later.
