"This is bad. This is really really really bad," Michael said.

"I know," Emma snapped.

"But you-"

"Michael, I know!"

"Wilamena worked so hard-"

"Will you stop standing around and help me!" Emma shouted.

Her brother looked at her with wide eyes and gestured to the mess on the floor, "how are we supposed to fix this."

The eighteen year old sighed, "I have absolutely no idea."

The mess they were looking at was their beloved older sister's wedding cake. Or at least it had been. Emma had crawled under the table it had been resting on to retrieve a pen and knocked it over, causing a mess and a disaster.

"Kate's wedding starts in an hour," Michael said, "we agreed to make sure everything was perfect. No fighting, no messes for her to clean up, Wilamena even made the cake as a gift to her. And now-"

"We'll have to get a new cake," Emma said, "I'll magic myself into town and grab one from the grocery store right now before getting dressed. You tell Wilamena what happened so she isn't surprised, and give her my apology for ruining her creation."

"What about Kate, do we tell her?" Michael wondered.

Emma scoffed, "and make her feel responsible for cleaning up our mess on her wedding day? Are you stupid?"

"Jeez, I was just asking," the nineteen year old said defensively, "we'll make it work. Kate deserves this more than anyone and we're gonna make it happen."

Emma nodded, "that's what I like to hear!"

While this exchange was going on and Emma Wibberly frantically went to search for a new cake, the rest of the wedding preparations were going smoothly and in an hour the event would start. It was a small wedding for only family and close friends to witness, and was being held in the gardens of Cambridge Falls mansion. Kate and Rafe had decided on the location because it was beautiful, natural, slightly isolated and located in the magical world. It had also been easy to set up, with a large assortment of lawn chairs and an array of flowers, also a gift from Wilamena.

With the lawn set up, people bustled around the mansion, finding their jackets in case the April winds were strong and adding ice to coolers of punch. And in separate rooms, the bride and groom eagerly prepared, oblivious to the cake chaos happening in the kitchen. After six years of knowing and loving each other, and three years of engagement (the couple had chosen to wait until Michael and Emma made it to adulthood before tying the knot) the day had finally arrived.

Up in one of the guest bedrooms, Kate eagerly hummed to herself. She had refused offers of help, wanting this time to be alone, to go over her vows one final time (though she knew them like the back of her hand) and to just enjoy this all. It was her wedding day, and she was overjoyed.

Unconsciously, she reached down to twist her engagement ring, a habit she had formed after three years of wearing it. Only to find it wasn't there and remember that she and Rafe were using their engagement rings as their wedding rings too, and thus were being kept safely with Kate's mom until the ceremony.

Instead she touched her locket and smiled to herself. It had been a long hard road to get here, filled with literal death and resurrection, battles and magic. But belief and love had won in the end and now Kate finally got to exchange everlasting promises of forever with her love.
