Theodosia could have sworn she meant to be on time to dinner with Garak but she kept getting distracted with different things around her quarters. Like the papers of a study she was doing or the half-unpacked box sitting in the middle of her bedroom. She only realized it was past the time she was supposed to meet Garak when there was a chime of a message Garak had sent her.

So Theodosia rushed down the hallways towards the Promenade, struggling to get her hair up in a bun. She was about to start with doing her hair when the papers on her vanity became too interesting. She couldn't help it. It was the scientist in her.

Theodosia burst out onto the Promenade and jogged to the restaurant. Garak was sitting at a table alone, a drink sitting in front of him. When he saw Theodosia, he smiled and nodded to her.

Theodosia fell into the chair across from Garak. "Sorry for being late, Garak. I got distracted."

He smiled softly. "You're the type to get easily distracted."

That was more of a statement than a question.

"Yeah," Theodosia replied. "And I don't think I was too late, was I?"

Garak shook his head. "Not at all. I didn't mind at all. Just as long as I'm in good company now."

Theodosia smiled softly in response. A server came within a few minutes to take their orders. The conversation flowed easily between the pair. It didn't feel awkward at all to Theodosia. After they had finished eating, they went for a walk around the Promenade. They ended up on the second floor, looking out one of the many large windows to look at the stars.

"Pretty, aren't they?" Theodosia murmured softly.

"Indeed they are," Garak replied.

"I've always been curious as to what was out there, even as a small child," Theodosia said. "There's so much out there that we don't know about. Even with all the technological advances, there's still so much unknown."

"Is that why you're a scientist?" Garak asked. "So you could learn more and see more?"

"Yeah, in a way," Theodosia replied. "I was raised by scientists too. I've grown up in labs and all that so I've been a lab rat of sorts my entire life. My parents raised me to be curious about all that kind of stuff. And I don't know. It just made sense that I became one."

"It fits you too," Garak said. "You look like a scientist."

"I hope so," Theodosia sassed. "I've made it my career so if I didn't look like one, I'd be in trouble."

Garak smiled. "Sassy. I like it."

Liking that answer, Theodosia kept flicking sassy responses at Garak and making smart responses to whatever he had to say. It made the conversation between them easier and flow well. They only stayed at the window for a bit longer before they continued walking. Theodosia, feeling a bit confident, grabbed Garak's hand. He didn't react negatively, instead pulling her closer. Theodosia smiled at him, noticing small details about Garak's face. Details she started to like.

Garak, ever the gentleman, walked Theodosia to her quarters. She invited him in, apologizing greatly for the mess. She didn't think the date would get far enough where Garak would be invited inside. But she didn't mind. It was an opportunity for them to get a quiet moment to themselves. Something Theodosia wanted to cherish for as long as she could.

They spent hours talking. It wasn't until the late hours of the night before Garak finally started to make his way out of the door. Theodosia stood with him by the door, saying her goodbyes before he left. Neither one of them wanted the night to end but both had jobs to do in the morning.

Finally, Garak pulled Theodosia into a hug. She wrapped her arms around his neck, briefly kissing him on the cheek. Garak pulled away almost immediately and gave her a proper kiss on the lips. She smiled into the kiss, holding onto him. It was a perfect way to end the first date.

Garak pulled away. "Do you want to have a second date, my love?"

"Is that even a question?" Theodosia asked. "We can schedule another one for when we're not busy."

"Yes, my dear. I'll keep in contact."

Garak kissed her one last time before he left her quarters. Theodosia grinned as soon as he left. She wasn't even there for a month and she already had a second date set up with a very handsome man. Being stationed at Deep Space Nine was probably the best thing that ever happened to her.
