You were assigned to the Enterprise and were often on the bridge as a communications officer. Aside from Ensign Uhura, you were one of the best. You were friendly and nice to everyone which led you to being friends with most everyone. Including the captain, Christopher Pike. You kept in mind the rank system but the two of you were what you considered friends.
The two of you had dinners every week, whether or not it was with others or not. Sometimes it was just the two of you. It was nice to get to know him on a more personal level. Christopher was a good man who was nice to you. He also looked at you in a way that nobody else did. He had feelings for you and you knew it. He didn't hide it very well when it came to his feelings for you. He would stare at you sometimes when you were on the bridge and you caught him a couple of times.
One day, while you were eating lunch alone, Una Chin-Riley and Erica Ortegas came up to you.
"You know the captain has feelings for you, right?" Erica said.
You smiled awkwardly, a bit surprised by Erica's sudden interuption to your day. "I am aware of the captain's feelings for me. I am waiting until he comes to me about it."
"How long have you known?" Una asked.
"A few weeks," you replied. "He makes it so obvious. It's like he's trying to hide his feelings behind a glass wall. I can see it so well."
"Why haven't you made a move yet?" Erica asked. "You two have dinner together like every week. You could have said something then."
You shrugged. "I don't know. I like how things are right now. Dating him will make things difficult but he's also an attractive man."
"Then when you have dinner, tell him that you know," Una said.
"I don't want to change things," you said.
"It'll be just fine, y/n," Una said. "You both like each other."
You sighed. "Fine, I'll do it the next time we have dinner."
A few days later, you went to Christopher's quarters for dinner. It was just the two of you and you had dressed nicer than you usually do. You wanted to look nice. You were admitting your feelings for Christopher.
You rang the bell and heard a voice calling you. You stepped in and Christopher was making dinner. He was still in his uniform but with an apron on.
He looked up from cooking, a surprised look on his face. "If I knew we were dressing up, I would have changed. What's the occasion?"
You moved closer. "I wanted to say something since it seems you won't."
Christopher's brows creased in confusion. "What do you mean, y/n?"
"You have feelings for me," you replied. "I know, you know it, everybody knows it. So I wanted to know to know if you wanted to make things more serious."
Christopher stirred his food, deep in thought. "It wasn't how I wanted to ask you out nor did I think it was that obvious. But it works. I do want to make things serious."
You smiled, sitting down at the island. "Perfect. How long have you had feelings for me?"
"A few weeks," Christopher replied. "You're a good-looking person and have a great personality. Anyone would be a fool to not like you."
"I'm surprised the famous Christopher Pike hadn't said anything earlier," you said. "Why wait until I had to say something?"
He shrugged. "Guess I was just nervous. You're a bit intimidating."
You looked at him surprised. "Me? Intimidating? I could never."
Christopher chuckled. "You're also sassy. That's one of the many things I like about you."
You smiled. "That's good to know. Do you want to make this our first date?"
He nodded. "Sure."
The night went well and the food that Christopher had made was good. After dinner, the two of you sat on the couch and talked for hours. It felt different than all the other times you had dinner with Christopher. It was amazing to spend so long with him.
When it got late, Christopher walked you back to your quarters. Both of you took your time, walking as slow as possible. You were delaying the inevitable but eventually, you arrived at your quarters.
You stood outside of the door, smiling up at Christopher. "Thank you for walking me back. I appreciated it."
"You're welcome, y/n," Christopher replied.
It was quiet for a moment before Christopher leaned forward and kissed you. It was like magic as he pulled you close. You wrapped your arms around his neck, inhaling deeply. It was everything you dreamed of for your kiss with him. And a perfect ending to your first date with a handsome and kind man.
