You were a third grade teacher at on the Enterprise. You were quite invisible to most of the people there as you had never been in Starfleet. You didn't wear a Starfleet uniform though always had a comm badge on you in case someone needed to reach you. Any parent on the ship loved you because of how good you were with the children.

There was a guy you were attracted to but never had the courage to talk to him. It was Hikaru Sulu, the helmsman on the deck. He was an attractive man to you and you've always wanted to date him but never worked up the courage to ask him out. You were invisible to a majority of the ship so why would he notice you? A school teacher wasn't very noticeable on a busy ship like the Enterprise.

One day during your break, you went to one of the REC room for lunch. It was a normal day of classroom work. But there was something abnormal about the day. Sulu was in that REC room you were in. He normally wasn't in that one. You were always a watchful person and noticed the people who usually frequented that REC room.

After getting your food, you sat down near Sulu. There were two tables between the two of you. He looked up at you and smiled, causing you to smile back. He had the cutest smile you had ever seen. You were halfway through your meal when Sulu actually sat in front of you.

"Can I sit here?" Sulu asked before he even sat down.

You waved your hand at the seat. "Go on ahead, sir."

Sulu placed a hand on his chest as he sat down. "Please, call me Hikaru. What's your name?"

You held out your head. "I'm y/n. It's nice to meet you."

"What do you do here?" Hikaru asked. "I never see you in uniform."

"I'm a civilian that works on board," you replied. "I'm a third grade teacher."

"That's a good job," Hikaru said. "We need teachers. Especially like you."

You looked at him a bit confused. "What do you mean?"

"Kind, humble, very lovely to the children," Hikaru responded, a little smile on his face starting to grow. "Attractive."

You blushed, smiling wildly. "And what would make you say all that? You hardly know me."

"I know of you," Hikaru replied as he adjusted himself in his chair. "We've got a few mutual friends and I asked about you. I actually came in here to see if you'd come. I wanted to ask you out."

Your jaw dropped a little. "Like on a date?"

Hikaru had a very serious look on his face. "Yes, on a date. I understand if you don't want to go on one but I wanted to shoot my shot. Life is short and you're cute."

You smiled a little. "Yeah, I'd love to go out with you. Just tell me when and I'll be there."

Hikaru smiled, the two of you started planning out your date. It was exciting that you were finally going out with the man of your dreams. And it would hopefully be the beginning of a long and happy relationship.
