*First person point of view*

I lounged in my quarters, reading a book. It was one of the few days that I got off and I was enjoying my books very much. I was quite a busy person as I was the second in command to Scotty in engineering. He trusted me more than anyone or anything and he was my best friend.

The door chime rang and I called for whoever it was to come in. It was Scotty. He didn't even say anything. He just walked in and climbed into my lap. I continued to read the book but started to play with his hair. He needed silence and cuddles. He had done something like that before. It was usually when there were harder or busier days.

A few minutes later, I heard snoring. I looked at him, finding him breathing deeply and snoring softly. It was quite adorable. It was also nice that he felt safe enough to fall asleep with his head on my chest.

About an hour and a half later, he woke up with a start, sitting up with a confused look on his face. He looked around, wiping the sleep out of his eyes.

"How long have I been out?" Scotty asked.

I looked at the time on my watch. "About an hour and a half. I'm guessing it was a long day?"

Scotty nodded. "Yeah. I didn't want to go back to my quarters and I wanted to see you."

"Why's that?" I asked.

Scotty smiled at me. "Because you're my good friend."

I squinted at him in suspicion. "I don't believe that."

He sighed. "Well, I've been meaning to tell you for awhile now. I'm attracted to you and would like to be with you, if you are willing."

I smiled. "Of course. I've always liked you and have thought about what it would be like to be with you."

Scotty smiled, wrapping his arm around me. "Really now?"

I cuddled against him. "Yeah. We've been best friends for years now and I've been attracted to you for awhile. I was wondering when you'd ask me out."

Scotty chuckled. "We're busy people. Asking you out kept getting pushed off."

"Do you want to stay for dinner?" I asked. "I was going to start cooking soon anyways."

"Yeah," Scotty replied. "It's our first date as a couple."

I laughed as I got up. "We're going to skip the whole seeing each other first and then start dating?"

"Most definitely," Scotty replied. "I'll help you cook. What are we making?"

"I don't know," I replied. "Whatever I find to make."

We made dinner together and it didn't take a lot of time before we were laughing away at the dumb jokes we were making. When the food was made, we sat down at the table and started eating. Scotty had a hand on my thigh the entire time we were eating.

At the end of the meal, we remained on the couch with our dishes still out. We didn't bother to put them away for awhile as we were too engrossed in our conversation. Scotty had a lot of stories and I was too busy looking at his handsome face while listening to his beautiful accent.

Eventually, it got quiet between us. I felt the urge to kiss and I didn't even think before I kissed him. He pulled me into his lap as he ran his hands under my shirt. He pulled off my shirt and I pulled away, looking into his eyes.

"Do you want this?" Scotty asked.

I nodded. "Yes, I do. Do you want to go into your room?"

Scotty picked me up and he carried me into the room. We spent the night in my room and it was magical. In the morning, Scotty was up before me. He was making breakfast and it was super sweet. I was going to enjoy being with him if every night was going to be like that.
