You hadn't always liked Tuvok. You certainly haven't at the beginning of the mission. But then you got sent to the Delta Quadrant and was separated from everyone you had ever known. You had no one to connect with. No one except the crew. And the only person you found remotely attractive was Tuvok.

But you could never talk to him for very long without stumbling over your words and excusing yourself from the conversation. Everyone knew that you liked him but no one would mention a thing. There was a giant spectacle to be seen. Tuvok was the stoic and cold Vulcan. You were a hot mess of a human.

One night, there was a work party of sorts. It wasn't much but it was fun. You loved being around friends and hanging around with them. You thought the night would go well. But Tuvok had to show up. You were in the middle of a card game when you spotted him. You paused, your heart beating faster by the moment.

As soon as he looked at you, you looked away, focusing on the game in front of you. Tuvok was in your line of sight the entire day but you refused to look at him. You didn't want to give in to looking at the man who was the fixture of your affections. There was a party to be focused on and you would be damned if you didn't enjoy it.

After the card game ended, you got up to make your rounds around the room. You chatted with Tom and Harry for a long time as they were your best friends in the entire galaxy. B'Elanna was a good friend of yours as well so after you were done with Harry and Tom, you went straight to B'Elanna. Unfortunately, she was standing near Tuvok.

"Hey, y/n!" B'Elanna exclaimed. "How are you?"

"I'm doing alright," you replied. "What about you?"

"I'm doing great." She glanced over at Tuvok before leaning in. "Have you talked to him yet?"

You shook your head. "Not yet. I haven't had the courage to but I don't need to. I'm fine where I am."

B'Elanna raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure? I know how you feel about him."

"I'm still not going to say anything about it," you said.

Tuvok stepped over. "Good evening, Lieutenant Torres and Major l/n."

"Good evening, Commander Tuvok," B'Elanna greeted. "How have you been?"

"Fair," Tuvok replied, looking at you. "How about you, Major?"

"Well," you said a little awkwardly. "Thank you for asking."

Tuvok nodded. "You're welcome."

You nodded curtly and turned away, leaving quickly. Tuvok seemingly watched you all night. You weren't sure how to react to it because you were always awkward around Tuvok. You didn't even want to go up to him and talk to him in fear that he would say something. But the party came to an end and you headed home. Your arms were wrapped around your waist as you walked down the almost abandoned hallway. You had thought you were alone until you heard your voice being called. Turning, you saw Tuvok coming up behind you.

"Yes?" You asked.

"I had a question for you," Tuvok asked.

"Ask away."

"It seems like you do not want to be around me," Tuvok asked. "Every time we are near each other you seem awkward and want to leave immediately. Is there a problem?"

You shook your head. "Not necessarily."

"What do you mean?" Tuvok asked.

You sighed, finally deciding to tell the truth. "I like you, Tuvok, and I am very awkward around people that I like. I don't know why I'm that way but I am and I apologize if it makes things even more awkward."

Tuvok raised his eyebrow. "You like me romantically?"

You nodded a little, avoiding his gaze. "Yes."

Tuvok took a moment to process what you said. Within the minute, he spoke up. "I thank you for being honest with me, Major l/n. Is it possible for you to join me one night of this week?"

"Are you asking me on a date, Commander?" you asked.

"If that is what you would like to call it, then yes."

You smiled. "Yeah, I would like to do that. Maybe sometime this week?"

Tuvok nodded. "Of course. May I walk you to your quarters?"

"Sure."

He walked you the rest of the way back. You talked a little bit more at the doorway of your quarters, planning out the little details of the date. In that few minutes, Tuvok showed a softer side of himself that you hadn't ever seen. He was nicer than you had thought.

Eventually, Tuvok did leave and you went into your room, a grin on your face. You were finally going on a date with the man you were very attracted to. You were excited and nervous at the same time. You didn't think that Tuvok would like you too but he did. Fantastic news.

The night of the date came all too quickly. You wanted to look nice and it was great that you still had some nice date clothes from Earth. You wanted to look cute and wanted to impress Tuvok enough that he'd think about staying. You sure hoped it helped. Tuvok came to pick you up exactly on time. He was still in uniform but still looked handsome as always.

He looked you over, giving you a nod of approval. "Hello, Major. Are you ready?"

You nodded. "Yes. Let's just get one thing clear, Tuvok. You don't need to call me Major when it's just the two of us. Just call me y/n."

Tuvok nodded. "Of course. We should leave now."

You nodded as the two of you left. "Where are we going?"

"One of the REC rooms," Tuvok replied. "One of the ones that aren't occupied very often."

"What? Embarrassed of me or something?" You joked.

"Not at all. On the contrary," Tuvok replied. "You're an intelligent young person and I enjoy your presence. I will never be embarrassed by you if we continue this."

"I hope so because you're saying all the right things."

The two of you arrived at the REC room and sat in one of the many empty tables. You talked for a while before even the thought of getting food came to mind. It had felt like the two of you had known each other for years. Everything was going fantastic. You liked how well the two of you worked together and how compatible you were. Everything was working out so well.

At the end of the night, Tuvok walked you back to your quarters. He had been so respectful and kind to you. He was everything you had ever dreamed of. Pausing at the entrance of your door, you turned to Tuvok. He had a kind look on his face, the same look he had on all night.

"Thanks for tonight," you said. "I enjoyed it a lot."

"You're welcome, y/n," Tuvok replied. "I enjoyed it as well. I would like to have another one of these dates sometime soon. If you want to, that is."

You smiled. "Yeah, I would. I'll see you around."

You almost turned away to enter your room but instead, you quickly turned and kissed Tuvok's cheek. You didn't let him say anything before you disappeared into your room. You wanted to leave it at that. And it worked out perfectly as the two of you went on multiple dates after that.
