I've always liked y/n. In fact, I might have loved her. She was beautiful, kind, and was from Germany. She never seemed sad and never frowned very often. That would change.
I was turning a corner on the Enterprise when I ran into y/n. She stopped and looked me in the eyes. She had tears streaming down her face. She shoved her glasses up her nose before taking off down the hallway.
I chased after her and caught her before she went into her quarters. I pulled her into a hug, holding her still. She tentatively wrapped her arms around me and let her cry into my chest.
After a few minutes, she pulled back and sniffled, refusing to look up at me. I bent down to look into her eyes. She still avoided my gaze.
"Hey, what's wrong? You can tell me," I said gently.
Y/n crossed her arms and swallowed. "I-I found out that my boyfriend was cheating on me and, of course, I broke up with him." She wiped her eyes and laughed dryly. "I'm sorry. I'm such a mess."
"You're not a mess. Do you want to go get cleaned up and get something to eat?" I asked.
Y/n nodded and entered her quarters. I followed but stayed near the door. It didn't take her very long to get ready. She came back out with her face made back up. The only tell-tale sign she had been crying were her bloodshot eyes.
I took her to a rec room. There luckily weren't many people there. Y/n and I sat in a booth seat and ate. Y/n ate quietly, barely speaking.
I reached out and gently grabbed y/n's hand, attempting to be kind. "It'll be alright, okay? I'm here if you want to talk."
Y/n nodded, flashing a small smile. "Yeah, okay. I trust you enough."
