Sonic's POV:

...

On this cold night, once again, I sat beside Amy's bed quietly. All the lights inside the room were turned off, and so only the fireplace was keeping the two of us warm inside. Everybody else was asleep, so I thought I would watch over her for tonight.

"tick-tock..."

"tick-tock..."

I grimly looked at her as I gripped her hand tightly, fearing that if I let go even for just a moment..., she would disappear in front of me again. I then suddenly saw a tear run down her cheek, my eyes widened as the feeling of guilt began to grow more inside my trembling heart. She was now whimpering and mumbling some words that I couldn't figure out, but by just looking at her expression alone, it was clear that she was having a nightmare. I felt my heart break into pieces when I saw her in this state, unable to do anything to help. And so I gently lift her hand and held it as tight as I could before I let her hand touch my cheek. I was just checking if her hands were still cold, but the warmth coming from it is so... comforting. A while later, her whimpers then stopped, now going back to her peaceful state. I then wiped a tear that ran down her cheek as I muttered, "I'm sorry. I really am sorry."

....

I was too foolish to think nothing bad would happen to her during this trip just because I was there to protect her, and in the end, I wasn't even able to.

"I'm still too weak..."

Because I was too caught up with my plans, it was already too late to realize that I have foolishly fallen into my enemy's trap. And because of my foolishness, she was put in danger. And now, she's the one suffering from my own mistake. I shouldn't have made it obvious from the start, if I would have just kept her away from me from the start, she wouldn't have to suffer then. "This is torture..." I sighed, fighting back tears. Just like Sally and my Aunt, they all have suffered because of me. I knew I was being targeted, but still, I kept on believing that I'll finally have a normal life. I was too greedy, I was quickly tempted by that small opening of freedom that Amy paved for me. And now here we are, another incident has occurred that caused Amy and a lot of people to suffer.

"It's all my fault..." I sobbed.

Amy's POV:

I then felt familiar hands wrap around my body, holding me close. My whole body hurts that made it impossible for me to move, but even so, I still wished to see if it was him.

"Sonic...?"

I quickly opened my eyes and sat up straight, only to be greeted by the harsh sunlight penetrating from the window. I groaned as I covered my eyes with one hand, before blinking rapidly to adjust my sight. With my head spinning, I could only make out a blurred image of the things I can see right now. I then heard a chair move before a gentle hand then touched me, "Dear, what's wrong? You can sleep more, there's no rush--" My mom told me, soothing me to lay down again. But I shook my head and blinked again, this time, I was able to see more clearly. I then looked around, eyes like a hawk, to see if Sonic was in the room. But to my surprise, he wasn't. I then faced my mom as I asked, "Where's Sonic?" My mother's once calm face then turned into a troubled expression, as she then avoided my eyes and gestured for my father to take over. I then asked again, this time, my dad. "Dad, where's Sonic?" I asked. My father also has that same troubled expression my mother has, and they then looked at each other for a moment before my mother sighed as she then sat beside me on the bed.

...

"He has asked his mom for permission to go out for a bit for some fresh air." My mother told me as she held my hand. "Where to? And what about the guests? Are they all safe?" I asked, desperate for my questions to get answered quickly. I then saw her bite her lip before she gave me a small smile, "The guests are all safe, thank god. And I don't know where Sonic went, but I think that he's just close by." She told me. Once I heard her answer, I then tried to get out of bed to find Sonic, desperate to see him. "Dear, please rest first--" My father said, panic found in his face as he put his hands on my shoulders to try to stop me. But because of my desperation to get out of bed quickly, I then felt a sharp pain in my head, causing me to stumble and fall on the floor. I groaned in pain as my dad then carried me and gently laid me back on my bed, before tucking me back in. "Your body is still in shock because of what happened last night, that's why you need plenty of rest and filling meals to get your strength back." My mother told me. "How about Sonic?" I asked with my brows furrowed. My parents then looked at each other for a moment before my dad sighed as he smiled, "I promise that you'll get to meet him once you've had plenty enough rest. So rest now so that you'll get to see him later."
