"Nice to see you two again, has the music industry been treating you well?" My mother said, her mouth curved into a smile. "Nice to see you again, mother. And yes, our superiors have been treating us well." Sonia greeted. "And it's good that you and dad are also well." Manic added. I and my mother made eye contact before I looked away, her smile then disappeared and was replaced with a cold and bitter expression instead. "I see, it's good that the two of you had a nice trip." My mother said.
"Sonic." My mother called. I made eye contact with her again, "Is it true? Did Amy injured herself while handling a knife?" She asked, her eyes narrowed. My hands felt cold and knew what she was implying, but I remained my composure and nodded. "It is true, mother," I answered. My mom went silent for a moment before she walked away, leaving the three of us on the doorstep. Although they were a bit angry at me earlier, my two siblings still couldn't hesitate to look at me with worry, but I just flashed them a smile and shook my head. I gestured to them to get their bags, and they hesitated for a bit, but they then went back to the car to get their bags. Before I went ahead of them and followed my mother to my room.
There, she sat on my bed with a frown. I closed the door gently and faced her, "I'm sorry if I didn't stop her from using the knife, but she had to for her to get a grade-"
Just then my mom raised her hand for me to stop speaking, my mouth quickly went shut and I silently looked at her as she put her hand back down again slowly. "I know all of the details, my son. There is no need for you to explain what happened because I was disappointed with how you handled the situation." She uttered, her voice cold. I looked down and clenched my fists, I really want to speak but I remained obedient and stayed quiet.
"But..." My mom muttered.
I looked at her, eyes wide, as she looked at me with a small smile. "It was really thoughtful of you to treat her wound, so I guess you did fine in taking great care of her." She said. My fists loosened and my face went blank, she... she's not angry? This is a first, for years, she was always scolding me for not doing what she expects from me. But now... this feels strange. But I felt somewhat happy? Realizing my mouth was about to curve into a smile, I then cleared my throat before I nodded. "Thank you, mother," I muttered. She nodded before she stood up and walked out of my room, leaving me still speechless from what she just said. It isn't really that big of a deal, but for me it was. Although it's just a small smile, it was the first time she acknowledges what I did. So why smile now?
Was she possessed or something? What happened to her? A million questions circled my head but I still couldn't find the answers to all of them. In the end, I sighed and decided to take a shower first before finishing my schoolwork.
While finishing up my assignments, I then realized that today is the day where I would finally be starting to practice instruments everyday again. Because ever since I began to help around in the business, my mother had to postpone my lessons for me to go attend meetings and participate more in the business world. After finishing up my assignments, I showered and changed into more comfortable clothes. I then heard a knock on my door. "What is it?" I politely answered as I stood up from my bed.
"Dinner is ready, sir. Please come down as soon as you can." The person said before I heard him walk away.
I stood up and placed down my book before going to the dining room to have dinner with the whole family again. In the end, the dinner was fine. My dad asked me to review some paperwork tomorrow and to help him figure out a business deal in San Rio, where my gadget company resided. My parents made an effort in involving us in the business world, and so the three of us became very knowledgeable in these things. After dinner, I headed to the practice room where my teacher would be teaching me.
