Mary's POV:
I feel my jaw drop a little. What did he just say?
"What?"
"I mean I'll have to admit, Hemmings hit the jackpot with you."
"What?"
"I mean, you're funny, a fucking smart ass, smart, pretty. You're everything."
"What?"
He looks into my eyes and says,"You can stop saying what now."
"Very funny Michael."
"What? I'm being serious! I feel.....something for you."
"No you're not serious, you don't feel anything for me. Im surprised Luke feels anything for me."
He sits there for a while and then stands up and leans over the table, inches away from my face.
"Listen, I didn't almost betray my friend by liking his...whatever you are to him, just to have you say these negative stuff about yourself."
"Wow, um okay I'm gonna just go..."
I start to walk back towards the school.
I see Luke and Calum walk out and stop. Luke scans the now crowded courtyard until his eyes land on me. His face lights up and a goofy smile spreads across it.
They walk over to us and sit at the table my book is resting on.
"Hello there, Miss Irwin." Luke says
"Hello Mr. Hemmings." I say, smiling to myself
"You know," Michael says "you guys are so cute, it kinda makes me sick."
I look at him, confused. Just five minutes ago he was saying how he liked me so much and everything.
"Mary," Luke says, grabbing my hand in both of his, "Wasn't there something you need to talk about?"
I hesitate at first, then lean in to his neck. I feel my hot breath radiate off of him.
"I think that needs to be private." I say
I plant a couple kisses on his neck. After doing so, I get this feeling, like I crave something. It's like a hunger almost, like I'm wanting something.I want him. I shake this feeling off when he looks over at me.
"Ok, after school? I'll drive you home." he says with a little smirk.
I look at him again. The sunlight is hitting his blue eyes in the perfect way, the small breeze blowing his hair and unbuttoned flannel.
He's breath taking, actually. Dear God, I don't want to say what I have to later.
Luke's POV:
Things have just been so perfect between us lately. There's just this electricity.
It's kind of hard to control myself around her sometimes. Sometimes I just want to take her face in my hands and kiss her for a lengthy amount of time. Other times I don't want to be as gentle and drag her into the bathroom and pin her while forcing my tongue into her mouth and thrusting myself into her.
There's really no in between.
I really do like her, and I want things between us to last forever.
I ask her what she wanted to talk about, but she just gets really close. closer than she's ever been, and whispers in my ear. Her whisper is soft but sensual and it drives me crazy. Then, she plants kisses on my neck.
"Mary," I say in a low whisper"remember where we are."
"Well, somebody's getting a little close and personal." Calum says
I shoot him a look.
The table goes silent as we look at each other.
The tree branches cast shadows on her face, accenting her cheek bones. Her brown eyes have this beautiful gold tint to them.
It's really hard to describe how beautiful she looks right now.
*
I stand outside the school, waiting for her. I'm actually kind of anxious about our talk, considering what happened the other day.
She comes out of the door and I catch my breath. I swear she gets even more beautiful every time I see her. The breeze blows her long brown hair and the sun makes her squint. Her skins getting darker as the spring goes on, but now she looks so light.
It's almost as if every things in slow motion. Then, I see her smile and she walks over to me.
"Hi." she says with a smile
"Hello," I say smiling back "where do you want to talk?"
"Just follow me."
She turns and starts walking towards the school. I follow her up the stairs to the top floor.
"The library?" I ask
"Just keep following me."
I do as she says. We walk for 10 more minutes when she finally stops at a door.
I look at the sign and see what it says: ROOF GARDEN: Authorities ONLY
She pulls out a key and unlocks it.
"How did you-"
"This is what happens when you're a good girl, you get benefits and privileges."
'Hm,' I think to myself 'good girl?'
She opens the door and its dark.
"I was told there's a door that you open to get out there."
I pull out my phone and use the flashlight to find it. When we get it opened, the light is blinding.
I look at the roof, expecting it to be bare, but instead see a garden. Tons of flowers are in rows, just now beginning to bloom.
On the other side,in the shade, is a bench.
"I come up here to think a lot,"she says "I've made some of my best decisions after being up here."
I realize she's looking out into the distance. It takes a while for it to hit me. She's brought me up here to make a decision.
"Is that why you brought me here? To make a decision?"
She squirms a little while putting her hands in her pockets, pushing her thumbs through the belt loops. She bites her lip and looks down.
"Maybe." She mumbles
