Azriel did not have an excuse this time, he did not have an excuse on why he had kissed Kallista, and this time he didn't know if it was his heart or his mind making him do it.

Maybe it was both

or maybe it was him

No it wasn't him, Azriel refused to believe it, even though everytime he was near her he wanted to kiss her until they were both out of breath, not that he will ever admit it.

He was now back in the Night Court, after his rather extensive training with the princess. After they finished, Kallista managed to steal some kisses here and there, which Azriel responded each time, he escorted her back to the palace, the walk there not once uncomfortable, with Kallista even managing to get out of him some smiles. At the front of the doors of the castle, she smiles at him, that smile that could make even the King of Hybern kneel, and then she kissed him on the cheek and went on her way.

Azriel stood on the same position for several minutes, trying to comprehend what had just happened, he kissed his mate and did not think of Mor once while doing it. He felt guilty when he realized he had not think of Mor at all in his little training trip. The shadowsinger had to keep his mind together, he couldn't allow this to happen once more, he was loyal to Mor.

When it was time for dinner, he quickly went to the dinning room on the townhouse. When he arrived he was the only one missing on the table, the rest of the inner circle already there, he took a sit besides Mor, who was at the left of Rhysand. The food was already sumoned before he arrived, so he quickly scooped some into his plate.

"So, Azriel, How was your training at the Winter Court?" The sly voice of Rhysand interrupted his meal.

"It was okay" Azriel responded, trying not to give anything away of his activities.

"Just okay?" Rhysand asked with a smirk, the high lord hummed and asked again "What about the princess, how is her training going?"

Azriel gulped unaudibly, and besides him he heard Mor release a small huff at hearing the mention of Kallista.

"She's doing good, she was already trained in some aspects but needed more polishing" Azriel responded looking straight to Rhysand's eyes, silently telling him to stop.

"Oh, I'm sure you did some polishing, didn't you Az?" Cassian interrupted their staring competition. Rhy's released a few silent chuckles and Az and Mor rolled their eyes at their childness.

"If Azriel wants to fornicate with Princesses is his deal, leave him be" Amren interrupted this time at the right of Cassian, Azriel at hearing her statement chocked on the water he was drinking, and this time Cassian and Rhysand exploded in bosterious laughter while Mor seemed annoyed and started stabbing her food with more force than necessary.

"I am not fornicating" Azriel said with a blank look.

"Suree..." Rhysand and Cassian both responded with grins on their faces, not believing a word Azriel was saying, and of course Rhysand was aware of Azriel's mate, he had smelled the bond snap in the room on the day court, but decided to keep it to himself until Azriel told him.

"Why would he care about her anyway? It's just training right?" Mor questioned, the last question directed straight to Azriel, Mor giving him her more innocent eyes. Azriel looked at her for some seconds debating wheter tell her he found his mate and had spent the last weeks with her or that it was only training. His mind was spinning with answers to give when he finally uttered a respond.

"Of course"

After dinner, Rhysand proposed for them to walk around Velaris and enjoy the night sky. Walking around streets filled with dancing people and Merchants. When walking around Rhysand made them stop, to greet some kids playing on the sidewalks, Azriel tried to disappear the much he could, his stature and wings never failed to scare children away.

When trying to get away, he saw an unusual merchant, he had not seen before, it was an old fae woman, she must be hundreds of years old to even look old. Something pulled him into her stand, he didn't even realize when he was in front of her already.

"What would you have, Shadow Singer?" The scratchy voice of the old fae said. Azriel looked all over the stand that was assorted with a variety of things, from ancient jewerly to heavy swords, however, his eyes were stucked to a small silver dagger, the handle decorated with copper flowers and leaves. "Ah, the dagger, it belonged to a powerful woman, a strong warrior, underestimated but ferocious at the last moment"

Azriel's mind instantly went to Kallista, because something was telling him that a daggered as beautiful and as deathly as that one belonged to his mate.

"How much for it?" Azriel asked for it after coming to the conclusion that it belonged to his mate.

"Free for you, boy, I sense hardships for that woman you are thinking about" The hunched woman stated putting the dagger in it's holder and wrapping it like a gift, while Azriel was processing the words the woman has just said.

Hardships?

The woman gave him the dagger and he took it in his hands and looked at it, imagining how it would look hanging on Kallista's hip.

"What do you have there, Az?" Mor asked from afar. He quickly turned and hid the gift behind his back.

"Nothing, I was just watching" Azriel answered and walked towards her, Mor starting to talk about some dresses she saw the other day in a boutique in Velaris, the spymaster turned to lookback at the old woman's stand to find it no longer there.
