As the day passed, so did her trainings and so did strange thoughts...all unfortunately for her, about a certain short haired Illyrian.

He had surprisingly kept his word, and every day or night, he would visit her, he sometimes would bring sweet snacks, tea or even he once brought a game of cards, he that he had to teach her how to play.

He has done all of this, but still her mind remain unchanged, even though she no longer hated him, she still did not trust him or his court. She doesn't think she ever fully will.

Today was strange, she was alone at breakfast and it seemed to be a weird tension in the air. She was also informed later on the day that there was to be no training. The only reason she could think of was because they were not on Velaris.

And stupidly for her, she missed the tea time with the golden eyed man.

The entire day she was alone, so she decided to take a walk around the city once more. It reminded her of the capital in her court, but obviously less beautiful, nothing could surpass the beauty of Winter.

She walked through the colorful streets her white hair sticking out like a sore thumb. Kallista stopped at the bridge, looking over the railing to the water.

Even her blurry and rippling reflection could still make her skin crawl, but still she was better than she was before. She sometimes wondered, if she were to show up in the palace, would her brother accept her back? Would he greet her with a smile? Or would he send her away once more?

Most of the men that hadn't rejected her she had loved them with all of her hearth and she could count with one finger the men that were still alive.

She walked to the Rainbow of Velaris to see if it could lift her spirits. As soon as she stepped inside music greeted her ears. There was street musicians in every turn that played with a big smile, and painters working on the windows of their shops for the people that passed to see, and stalls of people selling everything on the streets. It was harmonious and lively.

"I see you still have that dagger with you" a scratchy old voice said behind d her and she turned to find an old woman with graying hair behind a stall full of trinkets.

"Excuse me?" She frowned, maybe the old woman was confused.

"That dagger you have tied to your hip" she pointed to her dagger with a honey finger. "I sold it, decades ago"

"It was a gift to me"

"By your lover" the woman said and Kallista flinched. "Judging by your reaction he's either dead or long gone"

"I'm sorry, I do not know what you are talking about" the princess said without missing a beat and turning to leave, but the old woman saw through her.

"Keep it close to you, it will help you greatly through the battle" the voice said behind her and when Kallista turned to her once more she was gone.

At midnight she was still awake, unable to council sleep. Kallista sighed closing the book that was in her lap and putting it on the table as she stood up. She grabbed her night robe, and left her room.

She walked to the kitchens with a ball of light to guide her way through the dark hallways. But as she neared she saw some lights still on. Who would be in the kitchen this late?

"Shit" she heard the person inside murmur and she tried to disguise her grin. Kallista stepped into the kitchen silently and was surprised to find Azriel mixing something in a bowl while reading instructions on a book in front of him.

Her jaw went slack at the sight.

Azriel was still mixing his bowl when he turned and found her on the entrance of the kitchen. He didn't say anything just slowly left the bowl on the table.

"Good evening" he murmured not able to meet her eyes.

"What are you doing?" She asked curiously.

"I...was baking" he said reluctantly, leaving the bowl on the table.

"Baking? I didn't know you could bake" Kallista stated, it was definitely something she never thought Azriel the Spymaster of the night court liked to bake.

"I taught myself so I could make them for you..." he announced and she was left astounded once more. "I know you like sweet desserts, so I figure I'll made them for you"

"Why?"

"I told you I'd do anything" he shrugged and Kallista hid the small smile by biting her lips.

"What are you doing now?"

"Well, remember that time you brought me to the city in the ice court?" He asked and she nodded with a frown. "I remember that a baker had given us this sugar cookies, it took me all week to find the name and the recipe but I found it, I was planning to make them in the morning but I didn't got the time"

She walked until she stood in front of him and without taking her eyes off him, she took a swipe at the batter with her index finger and put it in her mouth.

"Mhm, tastes just like home"

"Does it?" He asked breathlessly.

"Quite" they were close together and her eyes were on his lips as his was on hers. However, nothing else happened as he leaned away and coughed to reduce the tension in the room.

"I'm glad you like them" he smiled at her.

"Yeah, anyways, where were you all today? I didn't see you at all in the morning" she hugged herself to get rid off the stupid thoughts of him. She hated those thoughts.

"The Mortal Queens visited today, at Feyre's family land, it was not good, the Queen's refused to help"

"Why so?" She was frowning, why would the Queen's refuse to help their own people.

"Apparently they've heard of Rhysand, and not good things, they looked like they had already made up their mind no matter what we said" he leaned on the table.

"They sound irritating" she said and he grinned.

"They were" they laughed again together, she thinks she has never heard Azriel laugh so much than in the last few days.

"Well, this cookies are not going to bake themselves, are they?" She rolled up her sleeves and pulled her hair up before pulling the bowl to her. "We no longer need the book, I know the recipe by memory"

He smiled at her and helped her. They spent the rest of the night baking cookies, and maybe, just maybe, that golden bond was removed of it's dust.
