Amren had finally decoded the other half of the book.
Rhysand and the rest of the inner circle where in a meeting deciding their next move. Apparently they had decided to go to the root of the problem. Hybern.
However she was informed that she was not allowed to come. First because her wound was going to slow them down in such an important mission and secondly her wound was going to distract Azriel because instead of looking for the book he was going to look for her.
It was stupid, she thought.
But of course, she agreed because Feyre was also going. She still didn't feel all too comfortable to speak to Feyre again. She liked Feyre, she was her friend in dark times, but those dark times still crashed in her head like dark waves, it was better this way.
"Come back unharmed" Kallista told the shadowsinger while he got ready for their mission on Hybern. Her mood towards him had gotten better but she was still wary.
"Kallista" he turned to her and grabbed her pale hands in his scarred ones. "You know that I...I-"
"You don't have to say it, and I don't have to say it either"
"Alright, I'll say it when I come back then" he said as he grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles.
"Alright, I'll hold you to that" she smiled at him and realized that it was time for him to leave. "I'll be waiting for you...with dinner ready"
He seemed to realize what she meant, and his eyes softened before he kissed her passionately.
And when he left she watched his figure grow smaller and smaller.

She was playing with Opal, while listening to Amren, well not really listening, her thoughts were a jumble mess of worry for Azriel.
Had he gotten hurt? Was he okay?
She hoped he was.
"-your powers are still a bit out of control" Amren said and that got her out of her head.
"What? I thought they were fine, you even said I have gotten better at everything"
"I said better, not good"
"Oh, come on, I know everything about them, I know how to use them, I know their faults, I know them like my own soul"
"That is exactly why you don't know them, what is your soul? Who are you?" Amren stood up from her seat until she was in front of her. "Are you Kallista of the Winter Court? A prim Princess? The fairy slayer? A cold murderer? Or are you a savior? Who are you? You will not be able to completely know your powers until you know yourself"
Amren's words made her frown, she was sure of herself, but was she?
She once was a Princess, but then she was captured, tortured, sold, pushed aside, abandoned and she became someone else.
But before she could figure the rest of it out, there was a change in the atmosphere and a thump downstairs.
The friends looked at each other before running downstairs uncaring if Feyre was there.
Her heart dropped to her stomach when she arrived, Cassian's wings were absolutely destroyed and Azriel had a bolt sticking out of his chest.
With wide eyes she ran to him, while Amren screamed at Rhysand and Mor winnowed two girl she didn't know away.
"What happened to him?" She asked Mor when she came back and kneeled besides his body besides her.
"Hybern, be careful it's poisoned" Mor took the bolt out quickly and Azriel groaned in pain as blood showered the carpet beneath them. Then she shoved her fingers over the wound and light flared however nothing happened. "Why is it not working?"
Mor was sweating in worry as the wound did not close with her powers, then she looked at Kallista who looked at Azriel with furrowed brows while she held into his hand.
"Do it" Mor looked at her and Kallista looked at her shaking her head.
"I can't, I don't know how-"
"Just think about it, you can do it, please" Mor looked at her like the only one in the room, and with trembling hands she out her hands over his bloodied wound and thought about the broken tissue repairing itself, about the leftover poison leaving his body.
A blue light shined under her hands and her eyes widened once again, Amren was right, she didn't know the powers completely.
Finally she took her hands away and the only thing left was dry blood on his tan skin and a hole in leathers.
She sighed in relief and a small smile tugged at her lips when he started to open his golden eyes.
"Elain..." he whispered a woman's name. While on the verge of death the only name he could whisper was another woman's name. Not hers. Never hers.
Moments passed as her ears ringed, in her peripheral vision Amren and Rhysand fought and Mor looked like she had seen a ghost when Rhysand revealed that Feyre was the High Lady, however, she stayed looking at Azriel who closed his eyes and laid back on the floor unaware that he had just brought her world down, once again.
She stood up, his hand slowly falling away from her grip until it fell down besides him.
Kallista left the room and walked like a zombie to a balcony, she sighed and looked at the starry night of the Night Court.
She didn't know how long she stayed there until she felt a presence behind her.
"What? You've come to gloat?"
"No" Mor's voice sounded behind her. "I just want to say...that I'm sorry"
Kallista turned to her with disbelieving expression.
"I know how it sounds, and I know that you didn't expect it, but I'm really really sorry, for everything"
"I don't need your pity"
"It's not pity, this has been eating at me for years, I should have never treated you the way I did" Mor was fiddling with her hands as she stared at her hopefully.
Kallista realized it's the first time, someone had apologized to her and meant it. It nearly brought her to her knees but she stayed looking at Mor.
"...thank you"
"I know what you are palnning, you want to leave, but if I may say it, don't" Mor walked closer now that Kallista seemed to be less closed off. "Azriel, he loves you, and yes, he has spent time with Elain but he does not care for her the same way he does you"
"But he does care for her, in such little matter of time, I could never do that, besides I have to leave even if I wanted to stay"
"Alright" Mor nodded understanding and went to leave the balcony but she turned before she fully left. "I used to think we could've been friends"
"We still can be" Kallista smiled at the blonde woman and she smiled back.
"Have a good journey"
Her time here has ended. And now she must look for herself somewhere else.
