THIRD PERSON'S POV.

"Well, I'm still waiting," Miss Denby said as she stepped out of the laundry room and shut the door. Well, there goes River, Alfie, and Patricia's hope of escaping. "Where were you going?"

"Alfie has a problem with the alarm," River easily answered. "Right, Alfie?"

"Uh... Yes! Right, right," Alfie agreed with nods. "My ears are very delicate, Miss, and the alarm could permanently deafen me."

"And why should I believe that?" Miss Denby asked, unconvinced with the lie.

Alfie blanked as the fire alarm stopped. "What?"

"See, he's going deaf already," Patricia pointed out.

"There is no fire," Victor's angry voice was heard from the kitchen. "Someone set up that alarm deliberately and they shall pay dearly for this!"

"Well, the alarm has stopped now so you can all go safely back inside," Miss Denby informed them. "Or risk a long-term detention."

"Harsh," muttered Alfie as he, River, and Patricia made their way out of the kitchen, defeated looks upon their faces. The trio entered the entrance hall and joined where the rest of their housemates gathered, while Miss Denby followed in shortly.

"Well, you'll be relieved to know that it was a false alarm," Trudy told the group. "But we still need to follow procedures so everyone stay still until I do a headcount."

"So we're in more trouble thanks to the alarm and we can't get back to the crypt," Alfie whispered to River and Patricia who stood on either side of him. You guys got a Plan B?"

"That was Plan B," Patricia replied.

"Well, you guys better have a Plan C."

River threw him an annoyed look. "I will shove KT's key right up your butt if you don't shut up."

Alfie quickly nodded. "Noted."

River fiddled with the key in her hand as an attempt to calm her nerves while she tried to think of something. It was almost impossible to escape now since everyone was on high alert.

"Jerome!" Willow suddenly exclaimed.

Jerome's body collided with River's who stumbled forward in response and, in the process, managed to lose her grip on the key. Her eyes widened as it fell on the floor, right in Victor's view. She picked it up from the floor while Victor's gaze set on her.
