THIRD PERSON'S POV.
"Oh, I'm so glad you're both here," Denby said to River and KT, looking a little too relieved for River's comfort. "I need some help."
"Actually, we're just here to pick up Mr. Sweet's astrology—" KT began.
"Do either of you have your phone on you? I've left mine at the gatehouse and I need to message someone. It's urgent."
"Nope, sorry. Gatehouse isn't that far from here and it's good exercise," River said, grabbing KT's wrist. "We gotta—"
"Oh, KT, what about you?" Denby pressed, putting on a smile. "It won't take long. You and River can even watch me."
KT hesitated for a moment. "Uhm... Sure."
KT made her way up to the stage while River was close on her trail. As the two girls stood on the stage, Denby drew the curtains close and River shared a worried look with KT. The woman turned to face the two girls and she outstretched her hand. KT took out her phone and handed Denby her phone.
"So you haven't seen any astrology textbooks for year twelve learners then?" River questioned, her eyes on Denby, watching the woman's every move.
"No, I haven't," Denby answered, sending her a small smile. "Maybe Mr. Sweet got it wrong and sent you two on a little goose chase."
"Huh. That'd be strange since Mr. Sweet would never waste a second of his lesson to send his students on a wild goose chase."
"Yes, it would be strange. Let's hope that's not what it is."
The curtains drew open in a flash. River whipped her head to it, finding a worried and out-of-breath Eddie standing there.
"KT, River!" Eddie spoke, letting out a breath.
"Thank you, again," Miss Denby said. She looked toward KT and handed the girl her phone back. "I can't believe I was so forgetful."
"No problem, Miss," KT responded with a small, polite smile.
"Eddie." The blonde woman looked to the boy before she made her way down the stage and out of the student lounge/drama room.
Eddie approached his friends, still holding his worried frown. "We thought you guys had been kidnapped."
"What?" KT questioned, her and River growing shocked. "No."
"I'd like to see them try to kidnap me," River countered and Eddie raised an eyebrow. "Not really, but you know what I mean."
"She asked to borrow one of our phones and I gave her mine. It was kinda weird."
