Benicia turned her head when the door to the office opened, "Mr. Tower?" She glanced back at Karen, "Uh, I wish you'd called. We would have set something up."
"Are they in?"
Zoe got up from her desk at the same time as Foggy, "Just the two of us. What's the problem?"
"We need to talk." Mr. Tower explained before he looked at the secretaries, "In private."
Foggy nodded for him to follow him into his office. Zoe grabbed the door and slowly closed it. She moved around Foggy's desk before sitting down in one of the extra chairs.
Zoe looked at Benicia and simply smiled at Tower, "You know, it's really not smart to piss her off."
Foggy snorted in amusement before he clasped his hands together, "So, what can we do for the Assistant District Attorney?"
"It's more what I can do for you." Tower leaned one hand on the chair, "We need all your files on the Grote case. Notes, interviews, any and all recordings and e-mails."
Zoe leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms over her chest, "And... we get...?"
"I convince District Attorney Reyes to scratch the names Nelson and Murdock off her shit-list."
"Wow." Foggy broke out in a grin, "There's an actual list?"
"Mr. Nelson, I-"
"I'm sorry." Foggy placed his hands onto his desk and just looked up at him, "Believe me, the sooner this Punisher mess is off our plate, the better. So show us a subpoena, and-"
Zoe cocked her head to the side as Tower sighed and took his seat, "Is there a problem?"
"Are you both really going to make me jump through hoops for this?"
"Trust me, there is nothing more that we'd-" Foggy pointed to himself and then to Zoe, who nodded, "-rather do more than cooperate with your office. But a legal firm sharing privileged communications with a client, I mean, even a deceased one, without a court order? I've seen lawyers get disbarred for less."
"And..." Zoe just had that sickly sweet smile on her face, "I don't know about you, but I worked really hard for my law degree. Nights and everything."
Tower's chuckle was filled with air, "Reyes... She staked all her political chips on the conviction of this Punisher freak. Now, if things'll go her way, there'll be an opening in the District Attorney's office in the not-so-distant future."
Zoe hummed and crossed her legs, "Uh-huh. And DA Tower has a nice ring to it."
"Now, I'd start considering the benefits that could accrue if your firm were more cooperative."
Foggy took a beat before he clicked his tongue, "Like I said, show me a subpoena, and we'll cooperate like a son of a bitch."
Tower got up and walked over to the door, before he turned back around, "Reyes is gonna roll over you like a tank."
