Zoe laughed while she sat on the couch with Karen. Foggy and Rhea were in the kitchen making dinner. They had agreed to do weekly double dates as a group and today they just felt like staying in for a Christmas Eve double date. Currently they were at Rhea and Foggy's place.
Zoe was healing well and was able to take the medical gauze off now that her stitches were removed. She no longer needed pain medication but every once in a while it would hurt. While Karen was essentially her home nurse until Zoe was feeling better to work. Zoe was a freelance defender now, while Karen stayed on as her secretary. She was actually having fun promoting her and getting clients for Zoe to represent. And Zoe had officially moved into Karen's apartment, while Foggy officially moved into Rhea's. Zoe's old room turned into Foggy's new office.
Rhea was officially on break from her vigilante work. She would only go out every other week to patrol and catch simple muggings or things like that. While Foggy was officially hired on as a lawyer at Hogarth, Chao, & Benowitz. He seemed to be enjoying the transition so far, though he occasionally tries to convince Zoe to work with him.
"Have any of you spoken with Benny?"
Almost immediately the entire group seemed to grow silent. It wasn't as though Benicia was mad or ignoring them. Honestly, with Benicia's job she seemed to have gotten rather busy because it was actually incredibly heads on. Plus, they were all sure that Benicia was putting a lot on her plate, most likely for some kind of distraction.
"I've been texting her." Karen chimed in as she shifted on the couch, "Uh... She's pretty busy."
Zoe glanced at Rhea and then back at Karen, "Okay, let's... let's be transparent here. We want to know her reaction to the whole Daredevil and Wailing Woman thing."
"Oh..." Karen scratched the side of her head, "Well, we haven't actually spoken about that at all. I thought Benny talked with you, Rhea."
"Briefly..." Rhea admitted, "I mean, she didn't sound angry or anything like that. She just listened to me ramble for fifteen minutes. She was far too neutral."
"Well... isn't that because she already knew?" Karen asked from her spot, which made Foggy furrow his brows.
"Wait-" Foggy walked out of the kitchen to stand in between the group, "She knew? How did she know?"
"She didn't say anything to me about it." Rhea admitted as she leaned against the kitchen counter, "I thought... Was that why she wasn't all... freaked?"
Karen blinked a couple of times, "Has she spoken with Matt?"
"Uh, no, apparently they're meeting up today." Rhea answered and turned back to the food to make sure that it didn't burn. "He has actually been trying to talk with her for a while now but... uh... we got a little busy."
Karen nodded her head solemnly, "I know I didn't ... know her personally. But I am sorry for your loss. I would have gone to the funeral but I didn't really feel comfortable because I didn't know her like you did."
