Benicia knew that her phone had about a thousand notifications from everyone. She caught glimpses of the names, which included the obvious ones, Zoe, Karen, and Rhea. She knew that Rhea had spammed Foggy because the news must be insane right now.
There was one single dot on her glasses. One that she couldn't get her eyes off of. A small dot of dried blood and she just wanted to clean it. She wanted to clean it off. But she couldn't bring herself to move. It was like her entire body was glued down.
The video played on the large monitor. The recording from last night. Benicia could see her legs and feet. And when the fake Daredevil walked into view she felt her entire body curl up. She wanted to throw up. A nauseating feeling took over her and she placed her hands in her lab. She shifted and felt her clothes move. Which reminded her that she was still in the same clothes from the night prior. She knew that her clothes were stained with blood and that it had even dried against her skin. Hearing this man speak to her again over video even caused her nose to burn up. She felt like crying right then because everything was beginning to bubble over.
Nadeem paused the video as he moved to face her and Zoe, "Was there anyone else in the room named Benicia? Or on the whole Bulletin staff?"
Zoe was essentially there, not to be questioned, but as Benicia's representative, "I'm advising my client not to answer any questions that treat her like an asshole."
"There was not." Nadeem continued, "He was talking to you. Why don't we watch it again? See-"
"No-" Benicia finally stopped picking at the stained blood on the end of her sleeves, "He was talking to me. That's true."
"Okay." Nadeem pulled his chair back and sat across from her, "Good-"
"But I've never met him before."
Nadeem paused as he looked at her, "Uh, well, according to your own newspaper, you've met Daredevil at least twice."
Benicia didn't even look at the paper that he slid over to her, "That psychopath is not Daredevil."
"I got a pretty good look at him, too. Could have fooled me."
"Then you've been fooled." Zoe propped her hands onto the table, "I mean, do you think every fat guy with a white beard and a red suit is Santa Claus?"
"If he comes down my chimney and leaves presents under the tree."
"Isn't that the point?" Benicia wiped her nose and dropped her hand back into her lap immediately, "He acted like Santa. This guy doesn't act like Daredevil."
"Based on your two encounters?"
Benicia rolled her eyes, "Dig a little deeper. Why don't you actually read everything in the articles I've written. He doesn't kill people, ever. It's not Daredevil."
Nadeem sighed as he leaned back in his seat, "So you keep saying."
"Did you ever look into Felix Manning?" Benicia questioned him back, "Red Lion Bank? Any of the leads that I dropped in your lap?"
