Rhea walked out onto the roof with a couple cups of coffee. She had been with Karen for most of the surgery until Zoe was finally transferred to a room in the ICU. Usually, they wouldn't let visitors inside after a surgery but they accepted it this time. Karen went in immediately, expecting Rhea to follow but Rhea said she was going to check on Foggy before she went to the roof to check on Matt.
And that's why she was currently holding a couple cups of coffee. One for herself and the other for Matt, if he accepted it. She stopped once she caught him squatting on the edge of the roof, peering over like one of those stone gargoyles on Catholic cathedrals.
Rhea just held the coffees in her hands as she stared at him. She already knew that he knew she was there. He probably knew the second she entered the stairwell. But she didn't say anything. She finally walked over to him and set the cup beside him.
"No, thank you."
"Just accept the coffee." Rhea huffed with an eyeroll, "I don't know when you slept last. And if I'm tired, I'm sure you're far worse than me right now."
"How' Foggy?"
"You already know how he is." Rhea sipped at the coffee but immediately made a face of disgust. "Tell me. How's he doing?"
Matt sighed through his nose and answered her, "He's fine. He's watching the game. Jets are up, seven-nothing... He just changed the channel."
Rhea smiled at the idea of Foggy getting frustrated with the game and changing the channel because of it. "That sounds like Foggy. Doctor said that the hit was clean. Bullet went in and out. He'll be able to go tomorrow. You should visit him and Zoe. She's not awake yet but-"
"I can't help them."
Rhea released a long sigh, "What do you mean by that?"
"They were shot."
"You didn't shoot them, Matt."
"No, but I dragged them into this mess."
Rhea simply shook her head, "Maybe you did... Or maybe you should think about climbing down that cross of yours, and spending some time with your friends for a change. You can bear the blame for everything. You don't need to do that with us."
Matt finally got off the ledge of the building and walked away from Rhea to lean against the wall, "How are the other patients?"
She knew what he was doing. Rhea could cut into his bullshit or she could just continue forward. And despite wanting to further this conversation, Rhea did decide to change it, "Well, you should ask Claire that."
"You already did."
Rhea shot him a dirty look since he must have obviously heard her talking with Claire, "Well, they're alive. Apparently one of them woke up. He doesn't really remember anything so far. He's coming in and out. According to Claire their toxicology screens rom the lab look like they read from some cheap science-fiction novel."
