"Who ever will love me..."

Remus takes a long, slow drag on his cigarette.

"...is a fool."

Sirius stills beside him. He fiddles with his own lit cigarette, wincing when the ash falls on his knees through the ripped jeans. What can you say really. The back alley of a pumping club isn't the most comfortable place to talk.

"Why is that ?" He asks quietly.

His housemate shrugs. Brown eyes turning into amber as he brings the cigarette close to his face.

"It's like choosing fish and chips in an all-you-can-eat buffet," Remus chuckles. "Not a bad choice, just not the best."

Sirius stares down at their shoes next to each other. His black boots contrasting Remus' worn red converse high tops. He'd seen that pair since their Hogwart's years. He wonders how Remus still fits in them.

"What if you are the best choice to them ?"

Their eyes finally meet. Sirius loves the half smile on Remus' face. Honestly, he likes any smile on that handsome face.

"Then go back to statement number one, they're a fool."

Sirius scoffs. He gulps a good amount of beer to shut himself up. It's dangerous if he gets loose lipped and blabber all his feelings. Not right now. Not when Remus can't believe in relationships.

"Then would it be such a bad thing if someone wanted to be a fool for you ?"

Remus stays quiet. Taking another drag and exhaling smoke through his nose. He thought about it.

"I'd be rational for them. Be the one to logically tell them that loving me is not worth it."

Sirius actually laughs. "Ah Moony.."

He drops the finished stick and stomp on it. He leaves his spot next to Remus to toss it in the bin. Sirius turns to his friend still sitting on the pavement.

"I think.. you think too much." Sirius says.

Remus gives him a look. "Where you going ?"

The black haired man keep walking. "To look for my fish and chips !"

The werewolf laughs to himself. With a nod, he straightens his legs, dust the dirt off his pants and catch up to Sirius. Their shoulders bump as Remus stops himself from going too far.

"So, fish and chips. Where would he be ?" Remus taps his chin.

"I'll find him myself. We're going to take you home."

Remus elbows him. "What ? Think I'm not up for some man hunt ?"

"I think you might not be too fond of what you find." Sirius replies cryptically.

After more coaxing, Sirius finally give in. Remus follows him to the busier side of the city. Even though it's well past midnight, the English suburbs are always bustling. He doesn't know that Sirius is just taking a detour of their route home.

Sirius knows, from the times he'd carry his drunk friend up to their apartment, that Remus is tipsy. Maybe that's why he's a little out of it. His friend has always been the quiet, philosophical drunk. He made James formulate a theory on the universe's creation once. It involves a giant stag and antlers that when moved, rains stars. Thus the universe was born !
