"Hey Re." Sirius greets once Remus comes in.
The boy looked awfully tired. His shoulders were rounded and he dragged his feet along the floor. Sirius stood up from his desk immediately. Work can wait, he has someone more important to deal with.
Sirius stand in front of Remus. He hates that part as the shorter one out of the two, he has to crane his neck to properly look at Remus. Careful hands reach up to caress his cheeks.
"Tell me." He says as gentle as he could, even when the worry is eating him from the inside.
What could possibly hurt Remus this badly when he's just been reading in the other room ?
Remus doesn't reply. Instead he bends down and pull Sirius into his chest. He rests his head on Sirus' shoulder, feeling way better with him rubbing his back. Sirius doesn't know what's wrong with his husband and he's getting anxious the longer Remus stays silent.
"My book ended."
Oh.
Sirius sags in relief. "God! You scared me. I thought something happened !"
Remus tightens his hold. "It was a sad ending."
Sirius knows book endings to Remus are like bands breaking up for him. It's sad and not something to laugh about but Sirius couldn't help but to coo at him. He's too cute.
Sirius kisses his cheek. "How about we sit and you tell me all about it hmm ?"
Remus hesitantly let him go. To Sirius, he looked like a pouty 5 year old who's just got his toy taken away. Sirius kisses the frowned lips.
"Take your glasses off. Can't kiss you properly."
"No."
At Sirius' annoyed face, Remus bends down and plants his own kisses along the side of his face.
"I can't see you if I take them off." He explains, voice still low.
Remus lets himself be pulled on the bed. Sirius twists to fluff the pillows before beckoning Remus to lay down with him. He thought the taller would go for the spot beside him. He goes to hug his stomach instead.
"Now you really gotta take your glasses off professor. You'll smudge them." Sirius warns him.
Remus sighs. "Can you do it ?"
"Mon bébé." Sirius teases.
He carefully pinches the nose piece and slid it off Remus' face. After cleaning its lenses, he sets them on the bedside table on Remus' side. That way it'll be easier for him to find them in the morning.
Freed from his glasses, Remus buries his face in Sirius' soft tummy. Of all his favourite spots to cuddle, Sirius' abdomen is definitely high on the list. It's warm and squish-able. Sirius is his very own self-heating pillow.
"That book seemed to do some damage." Sirius observes while his hands were playing with Remus' hair.
"The main couple got separated because of some goddess, Y'know for the plot. But it's... imagine being kept apart like that." Remus mumbles. "One of them got memory wiped but he still remembers the other."
Sirius thought about it. Will they ever go through something like that? Hopefully not. Through the possibilities are low, it's never exactly 0.
"Would you remember me if you got memory wiped ?" Sirius asks playfully.
Remus chuckles. "It'll take a whole lot of memory wiping to make me forget you. Heck, maybe they'll have to change my brain."
Sirius clutches his heart and pretends to faint. "Oh shit ! I think I've fallen in love again!"
His drama made Remus crack from his post-reading depression. The taller sits up and scooches himself higher so he'd rest on Sirius' chest.
"It'll take a lot for me to forget feeling this... content, safe, with someone." He says drawing circles on Sirius' collarbone. "The way you give the best hugs, your laughter, your suprising existentialism questions. I think I've been with you for so long, you're slowly becoming part of me."
Sirius taps Remus' cheek. "Wanna kiss you."
Remus follows the order. Of course, anything for his Sirius. He lets the boy guide their lips together. Just as he's done many, many times before.
"You're beautiful." Remus murmurs.
Sirius scoff. "You can't even see me."
Remus kisses him again. "I don't have to, I already know."
Sirius pushes his face away as he breaks into laughter. Remus also knows how weak Sirius is when it comes to sweet talking. Luckily, having read the whole library, Remus is a master of words.
"Someone's gotta put a filter on that mouth."
"If that filter is your mouth, please put that thing on me."
Sirius slams a pillow on his face. "You're sad just a minute ago ! Go back to being cuddly, I can't live if you keep talking like that."
Remus pretends to be innocent. He's got years of practice from being friends with the Marauders and getting caught millions of times.
"Like what ?"
Sirius fumes. Unbelievable!
"Like that ! Now really, shush it."
Remus laughs into Sirius' neck. "You're too cute. Who knew I could make you flustered so easily."
Sirius pinches his waist. "Silence or you're sleeping on the couch."
"We both know you're going to pull me back because someone can't sleep without me."
Sirius rolls his eyes. And even when Remus couldn't see him do it, he knows exactly what he's doing.
"Am I right ?" He asks smugly.
"God, you're so annoying!"
Remus laughs again. "Alright alright, can't have poor widdle Sirius stressed out."
Sirius huffs an agreement before reaching to turn the light off. Finding a better position, he slides down on his back. Truthfully, having Remus laying on his chest is heavy and it feels like sleeping with a stack of books on you. But it's Remus.
Sirius looks down and the tall man's all curled up on him like that. Suddenly the previous teasing flew over his head because shit, isn't he the most adorable thing !
"You're annoying but I love you." Sirius says.
Remus grins. "I love you more."
Sirius makes a tsk sound. "I love you more."
"I love you MORE."
A competitive nerve gets pulled.
"I love you MORE."
"Don't turn this into a competition Black, I'm bigger than you therefore I have more love."
"Love is an emotion, not a physical thing and I'm more emotional therefore I have more love !"
Remus sits up and kisses him. "I love you most. There. You can't fight that. It's in superlative form."
Sirius gives him a smirk. "Oh yeah ? I love you mostest. Now that's endgame shit."
"Fine, whatever, I'm backing down now but so you know, I let you win."
Remus returns to his little Sirius cave and closes his eyes. Sirius smiles victoriously then follows him to sleep.
