"I'm not touching that."
Sirius rolls his eyes. "Yes, you are.
Harry gurgles in front of them.
"That's your late bestfriend's son Moony."
Remus takes a step back. "And you're the Godfather."
"Well you married me, that also makes you the godfather."
Harry throws a toy bunny at them. The two dodge just enough for it to fly over their heads.
"Oh he's got quite an arm." Remus looks, horrified, at the poor stuffed animal.
Sirius picks the baby up proudly. "Of course ! He's a beater alright."
Remus takes off to the kitchen. His hands expertly getting a bottle of milk ready, just like how McGonagall showed them. He almost spillled the hot water on his arm.
From afar, Sirius notices the slight tremble in his usually steady hands. He sighs. He's been with this man for more than a decade, Sirius knows a nervous strike when he sees one.
"Here.. the milk." Remus tightens the bottle, making sure none of the milk could slip on to Harry.
"Merci mon amour."
Sirius tips the rubber to Harry's mouth. The baby's got an appetite. His chubby fingers wrap around Sirius' thumb as he drinks.
It was, finally, a quiet moment.
The night James and Lily was murdered, Sirius realized about Peter and told Remus. The two went and tried to stop him but it was too late. While Remus, taking Harry, floo-ed to Dumbledore for help, Sirius went to chase Peter down.
Peter almost lead him to a life time in Azkaban if it weren't for Remus, through Dumbledore, fought to get him a fair trial. They made a Ministry potion's master brew a Truth serum for Sirius to drink right before their eyes. He told them what happened. Which means the Wizarding World knew what Remus was and their animagus secret, costing Sirius a few months in Azkaban.
It was a whirlwind of events. Remus didn't have time to grieve. 2 Bestfriends dead, his husband in Azkaban and another a traitor. The few months alone almost drove him to insanity.
During those months, Harry was kept by Petunia while Remus gets the funerals and legal papers in order. He now gets why Lily didn't bother inviting her to the wedding, the woman's rotten. Turned her nose when Remus broke the news to her. He prays Harry was kept well when he left him.
Just a week ago, Sirius was freed. He spent a few days in complete silence, just like how he was in the dark cell. Eating and watching the sunrise, lip shut. He ran his fingers on everything at home as if trying to remember what life was like before prison. The soft bedsheets, Remus' face, his guitar, the annoyed Potter cat. Remus understood this was Sirius regrounding himself. He let him and his silence be.
It still frightened Remus obviously. He's used to Sirius' non-stop chatter and infinite dad jokes. Post Azkaban Sirius barely showed emotion, let alone talk. It took one horrible, dog related pun for him to crack a smile.
His voice was croaky when he says "I love you Remus" for the first time after it all. Remus didn't register what he just said, maybe he dropped the mug he was holding. He didn't know. Remus' eyes dripped tears instantly as he pulled Sirius into a hug. "Welcome back sunflower" he remembered whispering to his ear.
Then just an hour ago, they've picked Harry up from the Dursleys. Vernon blew up like a kettle at the sight of two gay, married wizards on his door step. Petunia handed Harry over as if the baby was poisonous.
