"What are you doing here?"
Luke looked up from a thick and old book to notice Calum observe him with a tense expression on his face.
"I am not doing magic, I promise." Prince raised both of his hands and observed as Calum relaxed a bit.
"Prince Lucas, we've talked about this, you're not supposed to be in my chambers unsupervised."
Calum was a powerful magician, the youngest son of the youngest daughter, and so on. However, he did not have enough royal blood to sit on a throne and he used his talents to pass on the magic knowledge to others.
"I was just reading," Luke promised. "Please call me Luke."
Calum sighed and walked over to see what Luke was reading. "You are aware your magic is more advance than these books."
"Yes, but I want to know everything." He said, "I like knowing how things work. My magic is unpredictable and wild, I want to learn how to control it."
"Your magic is not wild, you're just more powerful. You're made from magic, so you bleed magic when you're wounded."
Luke thought about his previous lessons. "I have been feeling nervous and mad recently. More than usually."
Calum nodded knowingly. "I presume this has something to do with the arrival of Prince Michael?"
He sighed and nodded. "I never met another royal. And when I imagined meeting one, I thought it would be to connect an alliance or friendship, not for them to babysit me at a royal event."
His teacher was a patient human. "Prince, you cannot know that. You first need to meet him and it would make a better impression if you weren't late."
Luke glanced at the large clock at Calum's classroom and jumped on his feet. His mother will be so mad.

"How do I look?" Luke nervously asked his brothers.
Jack and Ben who were probably talking about important things both turned to their brother and gave him their full attention.
"You look good," Jack said.
"Like a prince," Ben added.
Jack squeezed his shoulder. "I know it's stressful meeting new, important people. But I think this will be good practice for when you'll have to meet dozens of princes and princesses."
Luke gave him an angry look.
"Luke," Ben laughed. "The prince does not have to be your best friend. He doesn't have to be your friend at all. You just have to get to know him enough that your journey to the wedding will not be awkward."
"Okay, thank you."
They all walked together to the ballroom where the King and the Queen were already sitting on their thrones. Ben stood next to his father, Jack next to his brother and Luke walked over to his mother's side.
"You look handsome," his mother complimented.
"Thank you, the tailor came to take measurements for the wedding and send a lot of clothes after he saw how much I've grown. He made me promise I'll send for him the next time my clothes will shrink."
Liz laughed and straightened her posture once the trumpet announced the arrival of the prince.
"Prince Michael Gordon the Second of New South Wales."
Prince Michael, of course, arrived a few hours prior but was given the chance to change clothes and rest before the reception.
Four soldiers stepped into the room, followed by a boy who looked tired, pale, and young. His eyes searched the room and stopped on Luke for just a second.
When he was a few meters away Luke noticed he smiled at both of his brothers before kneeling in front of the king.
"Please stand up, Prince. You'll be a king yourself on the day."
"Thank you, your Majesty. However, I am not a king yet, therefore I will kneel when kneeling is expected."
His voice was soft and his accent thicker than his own.
The King nodded in approval, "You already know my oldest sons, Benjamin and Jacques." The man exchanged nods and smiled. "And of course, my wife."
Michael bowed. "Queen Elizabeth."
"Michael," Luke could hear the happiness in his voice. "You have grown so much since I last saw you."
"I believe I was twelve, therefore, I hope I grew at least a little bit."
"Michael," The King spoke. "Next to my wife is my youngest son, Lucas. As you know, Queen Elizabeth kindly asked for your assistance. You see, we would like to send Lucas as a representative of our family to the upcoming royal wedding, however, he was not introduced in the society yet."
Michael nodded. "Yes, my mother has read me your letter Queen Elizabeth and that is why I am here. I will be happy to introduce Prince Lucas to everyone I am acquainted with, however, I do not wish to influence his relationship with the people he'll meet."
Michael spoke all of this and not looked at Luke once.
Luke was sure he spent more time looking at the soldiers than he did at him.
"All we ask of you, Michael, is a proper introduction. Luke is a bright boy and I am sure, you'll make great friends."
His mother's words made him blush and at that moment the prince did look at him and raised his eyebrow.
"However," The queen lowered her voice. "Luke's magic is proving to be extremely powerful. And you know that information is not welcomed in everyone's hands."
Prince Michael smiled and nodded. "I understand, the precious Prince will be kept safe."
Those words sent a chill down Luke's spine.
