Luke couldn't and didn't understand how from all the rooms his father offered to Calum, the boy chose the small room in the basement of the castle.

One of Luke's assignments was to observe Calum and try to decipher his magic. Currently, at the top of his list of guesses was that the magician was a vampire. He had no literature to prove it but the lack of Sun where Calum spent most of his time was the prince's main evidence.

Besides the lack of light, Luke despised the staircase that led to Calum's chambers. The stairs were steep, his legs too long and the stack of books he always carried with him too tall.

Just as he managed to make his way into his classroom without any serious accident, Luke slammed into the always opened door. All the books scattered over the ground and the force of his body cracked the door wide open.

"Prince? Are you okay?"

Luke looked up and noticed no other than Michael sitting where he used to sit.

Calum hurried towards him and started collecting the books.

"The door was closed," Luke mumbled, both embarrassed and angry.

"I'm sorry, I should have known you'll be well prepared for our lesson today."

Luke tried to keep his attention on the books but his once safe space was completely shattered by the knowledge that Michael was there.

"I should go," The prince said the moment they finished stacking books on the table. "Thank you, Calum." Michael smiled at the wizard. "Prince," He nodded and his warm smile changed when he looked at Luke.

When they were alone, Luke looked accusingly at Calum. "I didn't know you know the prince?"

He thought of all the moments he complained to Calum, thinking it was safe to vent about how much he found Michael annoying. Then Luke remembered, Calum's hometown was Sydney, as in the capital of Michael's kingdom.

"Oh," Luke mumbled. "He'll be your king."

Calum smiled. "Prince Luke, I don't know Prince Michael well, he came to deliver greetings from my sister who was his magic teacher."

Luke followed Calum to the potion table. "I thought you were the youngest in your family?"

"I am," Calum confirmed.

"Then why-"

"Why wasn't the future king thought by the strongest magician in the family?" Calum had a spark in his eyes. He knew how fascinated Luke was with the magic origins and how powerful certain royals were and why their magic was special in the first place.

Luke nodded.

"My sister's magic is different than mine. Her approach to magic is different as well. Yes, I am stronger overall, however, if we'd compete in magic as Greeks compete in Olympics, she'd win in some sports."

He noticed how Calum was avoiding sharing any details of Michael's or his sister's magic with him.

"That's the same reason your parents had your royal wizard teach both of your brothers but had the need to reach out to find a good teacher for you. I've met the old Merlin and let me tell you, with him, you'd still be lighting candles."

Luke nodded, he was thankful to his parents, his mother especially, for the attention they paid to his magic.

"Calum? What's your sister's name?"

While he forgave Calum quickly, Luke was still upset over Michael intruding on his safe space. He'd much rather see Michael hanging in his bedroom than in his learning space.

He walked into his greenhouse after he and Calum rounded things up. He needed sun, warmth, and most of all he needed a place to grow, literally.

Luke sat down on his favorite bench, surrounded by all of his favorite plants. He closed his eyes and felt himself relaxing.

"Isn't it weird to have a garden named after you?"

He gritted his teeth and slowly opened his eyes. Why was Michael avoiding him for weeks and now he was everywhere?

"It's because it's mine."

"Why?" Michael enquired.

Luke bit his lip and forced all his annoyance and anger out of his body. The monstera plant next to him grew two more leaves.

The prince stared in what Luke presumed was interest, however, he didn't trust the boy's body language.

"I used to do this in the royal gardens. Safe to say, the gardeners weren't too pleased with me."

"Interesting," Michael nodded. "Do you do it on purpose?"

"I vent magic," Luke didn't see a purpose for hiding his magic from Michael, since his father already revealed to the prince how powerful he was. "Whenever I feel too much of anything I make things burn, grow-"

"Bleed?" Michael asked.

Luke frowned and shook his head. "I can control it enough to not harm anybody."

The prince hummed.

"Prince Luke?"

"Here," Luke called, already knowing he was late for his family meeting.

Ashton, the closes thing Luke had to a bodyguard and assistant at one walked into the greenhouse.

"I apologize for intruding my prince," Ashton smiled warmly. He was acting weird around prince Michael. "I was asked to come and get you."

"Thank you, Ashton."

When the boy didn't leave but just looked from Michael to Luke, he spoke again. "You can go."

"What?" Luke asked when his assistant disappeared. "You have a look on your face."

"You put a spell on him," Michael said quietly.

"No, I haven't," Luke frowned. "I don't do spells. I don't use my magic on people." He argued.

"Well, someone has. I've seen many men and women under love spells and your regent definitely has heart eyes for you."

"He's been acting strange lately," Luke admitted, still in shock. "I thought he was nervous about the wedding. He never left the city either."

"Either?" Michael asked.

"I never left this city," Luke said casually. "I need to go and talk to Calum. Can you please order someone to excuse me with my family?" He didn't know why he suddenly trusted Michael with his business.

"We'll order someone to go because I'm coming with you."
