"Why are we moving so slowly?" Luke asked.
He felt uncomfortable sitting in the carriage in his proper royal clothes, wearing the dark maroon-colored suit that represented his family.
The shorter trip from the inn they were staying at to the castle where the wedding will be taking place was completely different than the trip from the day before.
They were talking, they were laughing, they were, what Luke wanted more than anything right from the beginning, friends.
"We're here already," Michael explained. "However, the groom and the bride and their respective families have the greet each person, so each carriage has to wait for its turn."
Luke was starting to get nervous. "What do I do? Do I just say hello? Do I introduce myself?"
Michael sighed. "No, Luke. We went over this. I'll introduce you to people who matter. Everyone else should introduce themselves to you."
The younger prince has spent his entire life preparing for this and he wasn't ready at all.
"Then we go inside the church and that part will be quite boring, but it will give us a perfect opportunity for me to show you anyone who you should know by name. Remember, most people are below and not above you so they should introduce themselves."
Luke blushed, he didn't like the feeling of being important. He was used to be the youngest and least important child. His people knew him by his kindness and most of them called him Prince Luke and not royal highness and other titles they called the rest of his family.
Most importantly, they knew him, they've known him since birth, and the people he was about to meet knew nothing besides his royal status.
"Luke," Michael placed a hand on his shaking knee. "Even if everything goes wrong it's not the end of the world."
"What if I cause a war?"
"Our families are allies. We have the strongest army on the continent, we'll win." Michael smiled. "Just don't get anyone pregnant before you marry then and you'll be fine."
"Oh, I don't like girls so that won't be a problem."
It looked like Michael wanted to say something but the guards knocked on the window. "Prince, you are next in line."
Michael thanked him and Luke nervously fixed his shirt one last time.
He followed Michael out of the carriage and found himself in front of a tall, expensive-looking church. Victoria was the smallest of the mainland kingdoms, however, it was second in population and third in wealth.
Michael nudged him forward and Luke followed him to the groom and the bride.
"Michael," the groom was a man slightly shorter than Michael and Luke knew he was two years older than him. His eyes and hair were dark and his skin was tan. The two hugged and Michael congratulated him before pointing toward Luke. "Lewis, this is Prince Luke of Queensland, Luke this is Lewis, the future king of Victoria."
They both bowed their heads as expected before Lewis pulled Luke closer by his hand.
"I heard so much about you, Luke."
