"Michael, darling, could you come here for a second?"
The prince had no idea how his mother just knew where he was at all times. He took a few steps back and walked into the sitting room. Michael kissed the queen's cheek before sitting next to her.
"I was thinking, maybe you could wear your new suit to the reception tomorrow. It will be Queen Elizabeth's first time here and I wouldn't want you to not look your best self."
His mother gifted him a new royal blue suit that Michael was saving to wear on Luke's birthday. But wearing it in front of his mother would be the second-best thing, he guessed.
"Of course, mother."
"Where were you going? Don't you have lessons with Mali-Koa?"
"We finished early, I wanted to go and see if I received any letters."
Luke hasn't sent him a letter in a few days and Michael was starting to get worried.
"Darling, he probably just gave his letter to his mother, as he knew it would be safer, traveling with her."
"Yeah, probably."

Michael stood next to his mother and father the next day, as the royal ceremony began. It was similar to the one he experienced himself when he first came to Queensland and it made him miss Luke even more.
He stood still in anticipation of seeing Luke's mother again. The last time he saw her he and Luke haven't kissed each other yet.
Michael was also hoping for a letter from Luke.
Just as he was thinking a bit too much about Luke, the trumpets announced the queen's arrival. He stood still and tall.
"I present to you, the Queen of Queensland, Queen Elizabeth," Michael never noticed before how similar Luke was to his mother. He had to bite back the tears.
"And her son, Prince Lucas."
Michael blinked away the tears and looked behind her.
There, with the stupidest grin on his face was Luke.
Taller than Michael last saw him, and more beautiful as well.
He could barely collect himself enough to bow down to the queen.
Michael leaned down as they were introduced so she could kiss his cheek.
"Michael, it's so lovely to see you again."
She noticed Michael's gaze kept following her son so she smiled before walking over to his parents.
"Michael, I think you should show Prince Luke his room?" His mother said conspicuously as she greeted her best friend.
Michael couldn't stop staring.
"Prince Michael," Luke gently touched his wrist, sending actual magic up his skin, "after you?"
He managed to nod and only made it halfway up the staircase before pushing Luke against the wall and kissing him.
