Luke waited his entire life to turn twenty-four and find a soulmate.
On the evening before his birthday, he tried to stay awake to see the last number appear on his wrist. He tried but failed and when he woke up on his birthday, ten years after his first tattoo had appeared, the last one was there as well.

It's been ten years since the first number appeared but Luke had been dreaming about it for longer.
Every time he thought about the fact that there was someone on this planet with the same number on their wrist made him feel giddy.
On the day of his birthday, he messaged his old friends who had the same first few numbers to check if any of them were his soulmate.
The day after he searched the internet.
There were websites, dating sites where people would disclose their soulmate number but everything came back empty.
Luke knew and was reminded by Calum that his soulmate was younger than him and wasn't actively seeking for their significant other.
Or they just weren't searching and trusted the process.
If it was meant to be it will be.

After a month or two, Luke's life went back to normal.
It felt the same when he was waiting to turn eighteen but when he woke up, he was no more an adult than he was on the day prior.
Most of his family met their soulmate soon after turning twenty-four, his brother Jack even knew his girlfriend before and they just knew and waited for the last number to drop.
Luckily, they were soulmates.
He knew how much it would suck if Celeste wasn't the one.
Sometimes people would fight against it, wanting to spend the rest of their lives with someone else but it didn't work.
After six months of being together, Ashley and Michael went their separate ways when her soulmate finally got over their ex.
For the first time since they were both single, Michael and Luke haven't been sleeping together.
Not for the lack of trying and flirting on Luke's part. Michael usually took control and made things happen but this time around they were just friends. No benefits.
Maybe he really loved Ashley.
Calum's theory was different. Michael began to act weirdly soon after Calum turned twenty-four. The Maori man was sure Michael was both afraid of losing his best friends and didn't want to interfere in Luke's search for his soulmate. Even when he didn't believe in soulmates.
Luke didn't think Michael cared about his soulmate, but he did care about Luke.
So, when one day Luke was feeling down and he knocked on Michael's door, his best friend let him in his bed without questioning him.
