"For fucks sake Luke, your alarm is ringing!"
A door was slammed as the shouting wasn't enough to wake Luke up.
It's not like he planned on sleeping in Michael's bed. He quickly got up, blinked the sleep away, and crossed the hallway to turn off his alarm.
Luke noticed a few messages so he sat down on his bed to read them.
His door was open and he spotted an annoyed Calum staring at him while brushing his teeth.
"Sorry," Luke said sheepishly. "Michael texted me to watch a video with him and I fell asleep with my phone here. You can go back to sleep. Sorry."
Calum raised an eyebrow and went to the bathroom to spit the toothpaste out his mouth. He returned a few seconds later like Luke knew he would.
"You know, if you and Michael plan on sleeping in the same room, bed even, we could have rented a two-bedroom apartment."
Luke rolled his eyes and grabbed his clothes to go and shower.
"Why do you have an alarm set up for Saturday morning anyway?"
Calum knew how much Luke cherished both his sleep and his days off so he was confused about why Luke was up at eight in the morning.
"Date." Luke tried to walk past Calum but his best friend stopped him.
There were many things Calum could say but even the superstar football player managed to surprise him from time to time. "I hope they'll learn fast to not plan any morning dates."
As he was already late, Luke didn't shave or wash his hair but he looked okay. His hair was getting kind of long but Michael said it looked good.
It was a breakfast date but Luke grabbed a pack of cookies for the ride. "Cal?"
Calum looked up from his bowl of cereal. "Michael is also meeting someone in the evening so don't ask too many questions."
Calum saluted him and told him to leave already.
In his car, Luke went over everything happening in his life right now. He was being honest when he said sleeping in Michael's bed was an accident. Not that they didn't have sleepovers and would fuck when Calum had away games but this time it was different.
Michael learned about an online group, where people without soulmates or interest in finding their soulmate would chat and even meet up. Luke wasn't sure how it worked but he knew some users of the platform were either aromantic or have even met their soulmate and it just didn't work out.
When Michael told him about making plans with people with similar expectations as him, Luke reinstalled a dating app. Because if anything, Luke didn't want to be the one who was alone when Michael had an other, significant or not.

Luke was in his music production class which was usually boring as they would go through hours of listening to their lecturer before actually doing any producing themselves.
However, he had to be there as his presence was part of the grade.
His phone buzzed and Luke hope either of his best friends decided to entertain him.
It was Ashley, Michael's girl... friend.
Luke! Could you bring me some pads and chocolate on your way home? ):
Luke sighed. He knew the only reason she was texting him was that she and Michael were fighting.
There's some chocolate in my bedside table, bottom drawer (don't tell Michael). I have work after class so text Calum for the pads.
Or wait, I'll give you the number of one of the girls that live two doors left from us. There are four so I'm sure at least one of them is home and could help you.
Her reply came fast, but there were no texts just a few dozens of hearts.
Luke liked Ashley, she was fun and funny. She didn't mind his and Michael's past and also didn't rub their relationship in Luke's face.
There was not much to rub in, to be honest.
Ashley was a few years older and had already met her soulmate. Their relationship, however, was toxic. From what she told Luke, her soulmate was in a long-term relationship when they've met and her significant other at the time had the same first nine soulmate numbers as her. However, when she turned twenty-four their last number ended up not matching.
When Ashley met her, she was still heartbroken and Ashley who wanted nothing more than a soulmate was crushed when hers didn't return her feelings.
Michael wasn't her rebound necessarily, just someone to distract her and Michael felt the same about her.
They were almost the same person.
Wild colored hair, bubbly personality, and a lot of love for video games.
When they got together Luke was seeing someone for a few months. After they broke up Luke desperately tried to find someone as he thought being single while Michael wasn't would be the worst thing in the world.
His next date, Ashton, he met at one of Calum's football games.
He was good looking, had his band and interest in music but had some philosophical standpoints Luke didn't quite understand.
When Luke's car broke down on the way home from their first date, he called Calum to pick him up.
The ride home was anything but quiet, it just wasn't Luke was doing the talking.
Ashton was at first surprised that Luke knew the Sydney FC player but all nervousness vanished when Ashton was asked to pick a CD from Calum's collection.
The next day he texted Ashton Calum's number with a message that he had a great time but he was pretty sure the car ride was the highlight of their date.
Luke now cherished the fact that he was single, he just twenty-three and only had one journey around the sun before his last number would appear on his skin and he could find his soulmate.
