Michael's point of view

♔♔♔

Michael sat in the corner of Calum's teaching room, observing the three men. The soon-to-be king probably had his entire team of guards looking for him but this was more interesting than attending a dinner.

Luke was nervously pacing up and down the room, Calum was focused on Ashton and the poor man, who was being examined, had no idea what was going on.

Michael had heard and read about many ways royals were sabotaged but he never heard of someone putting a love spell on his enemy's right hand. Unless, Michael thought, the spell was intended for Luke.

After torturous minutes of examination and taking samples, the magician mixed a potion and gave it to Ashton to drink.

As promised, both Luke and Michael remained silent until Calum would suggest otherwise.

"Ashton?" The man asked gently. "How are you feeling?"

Michael observed as the man looked from Calum to Luke. "Umm... How should I feel?"

They explained to him that there was a chance of him being put under a spell but he couldn't determine when or why someone would do that.

If Michael wouldn't be so familiar with love spells, he'd just presume Ashton was in love with Luke, but spells were Mali-Koa's forte.

"You don't feel like kissing Prince Luke?" Michael asked without permission, earning dirty looks from both men.

Ashton turned to Michael and shook his head, then he turned to Luke, "As we discussed, my prince-"

"Yes," Luke said quickly. "Thank you, Ashton. I don't believe you're needed anymore, is he?"

Calum shook his head but stared at Luke with wondering eyes.

"Please excuse me from the family dinner," Luke asked, "maybe say I'm not feeling well?"

"You know I don't like lying on your behalf, prince."

Luke smiled, "I understand, you can just tell my mother I'm doing something important with Calum."

"Excuse me as well," Michael said before Ashton could leave.

"Of course, Prince Michael," Ashton said with a cool tone. So, his dislike of Michael had nothing to do with the spell.

"Luke," Calum said after Ashton left the room. Michael knew it was serious because Calum dropped the formalities. "What did Ashton want to say before you interrupted him?"

Luke crossed his arms and bit his lip. "I don't see what that has to do with our current situation."

"And I cannot tell you that without knowing." Calum looked at Michael. "Do you want him to leave?"

Luke huffed as saying yes would be a defeat of sorts. "No."

It took a moment before he spoke up, "A while ago I asked Ashton if he'd kiss me, he said no and explained why he wouldn't do it and we never spoke about it again."
