The rest of my birthday I spent with Timothee, my mum and sister. It was the best birthday ever, but soon came the day that they were leaving to go back home.
"I don't want to leave" Katie said.
"I don't want you to go" I said pulling her into a hug.
"Ok I think that's everything" my mum said carrying a case to the car parked outside the hotel.
As I was hugging my sister I saw my mum and Timothee talking. I wasn't close enough to hear them but my mum smiled and they hugged each other which is something I thought I'd never see.
"Come on Katie or we'll miss our flight" my mum called.
We walked over to them both.
"Have an amazing time in Italy" my mum said and Katie joined in on the hug.
"Promise you'll come visit home soon?" My sister said.
"Of course"
"And Timothee" my sister smiled.
"Definitely, you'll have to show me that secret thing we were talking about" he said to Katie.
"What secret thing?" I looked at them both.
"That's why it's a secret" my sister laughed.
After my sister trying to stall and distract my mum from leaving, which was never going to work, they got into the car and I watched as they disappeared into a sea of traffic.
"You ok?" Timothee asked.
"Yeah, no I'm fine" I said.
We both headed off to work as I had lots of writing to do and Timothee had to meet with his agent.
All I could think about was how I was going to Italy tomorrow and not only was I going to my dream place but I was going with Timothee.
I wrote on some unfinished songs that had been sitting around for a while, but most of them weren't my favourites. My own personal songs were very deep and emotional so not the typical pop radio hit. I struggled sharing the more personal ones because I didn't like the thought of someone else singing them. So the ones I did share were the more watered down versions.
As soon as I got home I crashed.
I hadn't packed so the following morning I chucked loads of stuff in my case hoping it'd be enough.Timothee picked me up and took us to the airport and we boarded our 7 and something hour flight.
We landed and went through all the airport stuff before taking a car to wherever we were going. Timothee had kept that part a secret and I was so so excited.
We entered into a city that I recognised, maybe I'd seen it in a film. I hung my head out the window like a dog, passing buildings that I could only describe as the most simple yet beautifully designed structures I'd seen.
We headed away from the town and soon began nearing a more rural area. Trees lined the sandy dry path we drove along and a huge building poked out through the green.
"We're here" Timothee said excitedly as the car stopped outside the house.
My face dropped when I realised.
"You're...wait...you're kidding right?" I laughed not believing this was where we were staying.
"So you have seen it?" He smiled.
"This is surreal" I said still stunned.
We were at the house, as in the one in call me by your name, like the actual real house.
We got out the car and Timothee opened the door. It didn't feel like I was in the movie because I really was in the movie. I explored every room and I realised it was even more beautiful than it looked on screen. Some of the ceilings had incredible designs and paintings spread across them. I adored the room lined with books on every area of wall and the little secret room at the top of the house. But the outside area had to be my favourite. The pool looked as though it'd belong to a Greek god and the surrounding trees made it even more serene.
"How does it feel to be back here?" I asked Timothee who was sitting on a bench by the pool as I walked along the side of it.
"Overwhelming not in a bad way because it was honestly the best experience of my life. I'll always be so grateful I got to be part of it" He looked so happy talking and remembering the time he spent here.
I peered over the edge of the pool, looking down and seeing the reflection of trees in the water. Timothee grabbed my waist from behind.
"You look like you want to go for a swim" he said into my ear.
"I do" I said gazing at the water.
While I was lost in thought, Timothee pushed me in.
"How did I not see that coming" I coughed and wiped my eyes.
Timothee laughed hysterically and I splashed him with water.
"It's not that funny" I said.
He pulled his t shirt off and jumped in, a wave of water hitting me. I looked up at the sky and the trees and closed my eyes. This was happiness. Not one single negative or anxious thought swirled around my mind like it usually did.
"What you thinking about?" Timothee swam over to me.
"How happy I am" I smiled.
He just stared at me, like he was reading my mind. Sometimes I thought he could but I always wondered what he was thinking about.
We went to sleep early that night because of the jet lag. The room we slept in was huge and had a big enough bed for the both of us. I couldn't wait to wake up in the morning. That feeling of being on holiday, or vacation as Timothee says, and waking up the morning is a happiness I can't explain.
