Well I was right and I knew Timothee was only trying to act calm for my sake. About an hour after the incident headlines broke all speculating on what happened. Fortunately no one had taken actual footage, just the aftermath.
I was still sat on his couch arms up to my chest while I watched the office. Honestly I didn't know what to say or do but I did want to speak to his mum and explain everything to her. I didn't want her hating me for getting her son involved in something like this.
"I need to go and work on this unfinished song so I'll go back to my apartment and then come back" I smiled.
"Ok make sure you text me when you're there" he kissed my forehead before I left.
Maybe I shouldn't I thought as I stood outside Timothee's mum's house. What was I doing, I couldn't just show up unexpectedly. But I wanted her to know the truth. Maybe Timothee had already told her. While I was stood there with a hundred different thoughts racing through my mind, I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Lucie?" a soft woman's voice said behind me.
I looked to see Timothee's mum Nicole, standing behind me with two bags in one hand and the other still on my shoulder.
"Sorry I um...I didn't mean to just show up. I can go" I started to walk away.
"No no come in, please" she said with a warm smile the same one Timothee had.
So I followed her up to the front door. I offered to help carry a bag but she declined my offer. I remembered the house from when I came here with Timothee.
"Would you like something to drink?" She said while I was sat at the kitchen table.
"Just some water please"
She handed me the water and sat next to me. I took a sip thinking of what to say.
"I take it you've heard about the incident with Timothee?" I asked somewhat hesitant.
"Yes, Timothee rang me about ten minutes ago" she smiled but I could see it was forced.
"I don't know what he told you but I just wanted to say, it was my fault" looking down. "He only did it because he thought he was protecting me"
Nicole put her hand on top of mine "This isn't your fault" and gave a heartfelt look.
"So Timothee told you?" I asked.
"Not much but enough to know that he probably deserved it"
I nodded taking a deep breath.
"I've never seen Timothee love someone the way he loves you" she said.
I smiled and then looked over at the clock. It was 7:30pm.
"I better get going" I said getting up.
"Of course. It was lovely seeing you again. You know you're welcome to come round anytime" she smiled leaning in to give me a hug.
"Thank you. You'll have to come round one night to either mine or Timothee's and I'll cook" I said.
"We'll set a date"
She showed me out and I headed back to Timothee's.
"Shit" I said out loud because I'd forgot to text Timothee.
I looked at my phone to see four missed calls from Timothee.
I wasn't far so I decided it'd be quicker to just get to his apartment. When I came through the door Timothee's instantly turned his head and came towards me.
