As the days passed, you only grew more and more anxious. Now it was the day. You checked a million times on your phone when you woke up. Yes, february 9.

It was the second birthday in which Tom would have you as his girlfriend. On the first one, you got excited, bought him so many things, you went out and had a wonderful time. But this year... First of all, it isn't easy to buy him presents. That man has everything, and he is such a simple person, he doesn't need much to be happy. You thought about getting him a book, but was there a book you could think of that he didn't read yet? You thought about entrances for a tennis match, but he's famous, he gets those for free. Clothes? That was your christmas present already. Maybe a watch? You didn't have money for that. So you had absolutely nothing.

Nothing but that stupid piece of paper. You wrote him a letter, to give with the present, but now there wasn't a present, so you couldn't just give him those stupid words. It wasn't even a well-written letter, like the ones he wrote you.

You sighed in frustration. Well, you should call him, at least. He was at work, actually, he had worked so much these days you had barely seen him. Which gave you more time to freak out. But he promised he would be free tonight.

"Hi, babe." His sweet voice fills your ear through the phone, it's almost like all your tension disappeared.

"Heeeey, old man!" You joke. "Happy birthday!!!"

"Oh, don't even joke about it." He says dramaticaly, but you knew he was joking. "This may be our last phone call. I barely know how to use these things anymore, I needed glasses to find the button to answer! And.... Y/N... They don't even have buttons anymore."

"Thomas!" You laugh so hard, you absolutely forget your worries.

"Almost 40, love." You can tell by his voice he's smirking. "Things don't work like they used to, I must warn you."

"We'll see about that..." You reply on the same tone.

"Will we?" He pretends to be all innocent. "Do you have plans for tonight?"

"Hmmm..." You panic again. "I... Well... Actually, it's your birthday, you can choose somewhere for us to go."

"Then I choose to stay at home with you." He admits. "You know, old people hate loud places."

Maybe that wasn't so bad... You could cook him something special, bake him a cake and make it your present... You were saved.

"That's okay, love." You sighed, relieved. "Do you want me to invite someone else?"

"Birthday threesome?" He gasped.

"NO! Someone is getting a punch on the stomach for their birthday..." You couldn't help but laugh. "I mean like your family or friends."

"Would you hurt an elder?" He laughs too. "But no, darling. Just you and me, that's all I need."

Great, cause I didn't get you anything - You thought.

"Okay." You took a deep breath. "See you tonight. Be in my apartment at 7, don't be late. Old people sleep early and we need to celebrate first."

"I was about to say that." He pretended to be offended. "Don't steal my old man jokes."

"As long as you don't forget the ones you already made and keep repeating them..."

"I'll try." He promises.
