Nash woke to his phone buzzing again. He wanted to ignore it and stay tangled with naked Morgan. He may never sleep in clothes again or without her pressed against him.
The display had a nine-one-oh area code. Who from home was calling him? He sat up.
"Hello." He apprehensively greeted the unknown caller.
"Momma said she invited you to meet your girl."
He let out a breath. His brother had called him for the first time in years.
"I told her I made a promise to you."
"Where'd'you go off to? Even momma doesn't know."
"I went to hang out with a friend up North."
"North. You can't surf up north."
"You'd be surprised, but I didn't. My friend does."
"Are you using this girl to get over my wife?"
Nash looked down at Morgan. She was a sound sleeper and hadn't stirred. Tillie always said she could hear a feather drop in the night. Would Morgan adjust if she became a mother? Did he want a baby with Morgan someday? Heck, yes.
He grabbed his boxers off the floor and slipped them on. Then he walked down the hall to the kitchen. "What'd'you say?"
"Are you just using her? My Vanni showed me pictures. She's pretty."
"Morgan's beautiful. I love her." Nothing he felt as a teen was anything like what he felt for Morgan. He was tired of apologizing. He felt angry. Maybe it was all the crap with Madison. He spit his words through clenched teeth.
"You don't need to worry. I don't want your wife. You hate me for no damn reason. So I've got money. I share it. So, I love my job. Get a new damn job. I'm tired of staying away. I want to bring my girl to meet momma. You can ignore me, but I'm getting plane tickets." He hung up and paced the room before calling Wesley.
"Why you up so early?"
"I wanna bring Morgan to meet my momma."
"In North Carolina?"
"That's right. Two nights top and then fly up north. We need to be north by Sunday. She has to go back to work."
"I'll see what I can come up with. Don't go getting in trouble. From what I hear, Lawson is doing what he needs to do. We have enough twin trouble with your girl. The video is trending."
