James

Riley and I walked into the building and I could see B troupe already in studio B rehearsing so I walked hastily into studio A to avoid seeing Beth, she's the last person I want to see right now. Once everybody had arrived for dance Mrs Kate called us all into a circle to designate the routines for regionals.

"Alright A troupe gather round, it's time to start your routines for regionals" Mrs Kate started getting everybody excited for what she had decided
"for the trio we've got Riley, Michelle and Thaila and for the duet we've got James and Riley" as soon as Miss Kate finished that sentence I couldn't help but mumble with a smile
'finally someone who can dance" I couldn't help zone out while I was already thinking about spending time alone with Riley.

Riley and I had been rehearsing for about half an hour by now and this is the happiest I've felt in a long time, this is a feeling I never want to end but I know it will once we leave here. There's something they way about how we move together that entices me to want to get to know Riley more. I noticed the time and saw we had 10 minutes before our dance practise was over "we should leave now, I don't want anyone catching me giving you a lift home" I spoke calmly Riley agreed with what sounded like a hint of sadness

It came to my new favourite part of the evening, I think this would be the best part of the deal
Riley got into the passenger seat before we started the drive ahead
I turned to her and in that moment I could help but want to say something, I wanted to do something that I had never even wanted to do with Beth
If this was Beth, it would be a short conversation before us both not uttering a single word

"You know your not half bad at dancing" I smirked making her scoff turning to look at me
"And your not half bad at trying to spark a conversation" She said making me chuckle
"Why wouldn't I want a conversation with someone as beautiful as you" I said winking making her chuckle before rolling her eyes

"Is James flirting?" She gasped and I shrugged
"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. Who knows" I said winking again making her chuckle before looking back out the window biting her lip
"I wouldn't mind" She whispered probably in the hope I didn't hear
I turned the smirk into a smile quickly before placing my hand on her thigh making her look down at it before placing hers on top of mine

"Can you pull in here" Riley asked as we pulled into the top of her road. I did as she asked but looked at her confused
"Why?" I asked
"Well you don't want Beth to see so I'm saving you the grief" She said making me sigh, I nodded before turning the engine off and turning to face her

Her hazel eyes were glowing from the sun shortly setting in the distance, her light brown her falling lightly on her shoulders as she looked back at me wondering what I was going to do next

But I didn't even know what I was going to do, I briefly looked down at her lips wanting to kiss her but I knew that it wouldn't be what she wanted and it would just cause Riley more drama then needed
I was certainly not worth it

I cleared my throat turning to her before nodding
"Same time tomorrow?" I asked making Riley's face fall a little before nodding
"same time tomorrow" She confirmed grabbing her dance back leaving the car

I can't help but think I've just missed my chance .
