Kaeya woke up with drool dripping from his mouth and an empty cup of noodles in his hand, his cat was laying on top of his chest and purring as he slept.
The morning sun peeked through the shades and stung his eyes. He groaned tiredly as he got up, cat meowing and getting off him.
He didn't care if he was late or not, so he didn't bother checking the time. He put on his coat and fed his cat (giving him many kisses before he left), and went on his way.
"Look whose here! Kaeya, we have someone asking for you in the front lobby." His colleague had said with a violent grin on his face.
"Who?" Kaeya asked with a bewildered look, "Some blonde guy..." It was obvious his colleague wanted to say more than 'just some blonde guy' but Kaeya gave him a cold stare which made him shut up before he could.
Kaeya walked into the main lobby to see the familiar blonde sitting on a waiting chair with a magazine in hand.
"Albedo, what are you doing here, at my work?" Kaeya walked over with a smile to cover up the fact he was teething those words nervously.
"I wanted to see you, you came in quite later then I would have expected so I've been waiting here for about a half an hour." Albedo stood up, it's now Kaeya saw his full outfit.
Solid white shoes with black pants, a white under shirt with a black tie and a long brown cardigan as the cherry on top.
It's just then he realized the hoodie in Albedo's hand.
Oh my god, no, no, no please don't give that back, they all already make fun of me enough!
Kaeya panicked in his mind but kept a nervous smile on for Albedo.
"I came to give this back. I'm actually not sure if it is yours but, you might know the owner. And I also came to talk with you, since I already know you slack off all day and don't do any of your work," He said ending in a hum and a mocking smile.
The man at the front desk whistled out to Kaeya and Albedo with a devilish smirk and a chuckle.
Albedo jerked his head to him and his eyes shot daggers into him, still keeping that same smile. The man coughed and went back to work, looking more unsettled than Kaeya had every seen him.
Albedos expression softened as he looked back at Kaeya, "Come to think of it, we can talk about this later. How about I come over to your house tonight? 7PM?" Kaeya knew it wasn't a choice so he agreed.
"I'll see you later then, I'm looking forward to seeing your cat." Albedo waved before leaving the police department.
Kaeya gripped onto the hoodie as he felt everyone's eyes lock onto him.
He laughed nervously as he stared at everyone back.
"Are you gay?" One of the men finally asked what they all wanted to.
"What? Of course not, he's my friend, and we just need to discuss work." Kaeya got oddly more defensive than he thought he would at the question.
The man raised his eye brow "All right..." he leaned back up in his chair and they all went back to work (or socializing with one another).
Kaeya rolled his eyes and went to work as well.
Albedo had his hands in his pockets as he walked through the L.A busy streets.
His phone ringing caught him off guard, he was surprised to see Childe calling him.
"Hello?" Slight confusion slipped his voice (which would never happen if Tsaritsa called him).
"Albedo! You know you're my favorite doctor right?" Albedo knew where this was going.
"What do you want?" He pinched his nose with a scowl clear in his voice.
"I was wondering...could you, I don't know, maybe talk to Zhongli for me?" Childe's voice got slightly higher at the end as if he was cautious to ask this.
"No." He simply said.
"Come on! He likes you! Just this once?" Childe asked pleading.
"I don't want to talk to Zhongli right now, and, why do you even need me to? Talk to him yourself!" Albedo was about to hang up until Childe began talking, "We had this sorta...argument, and he left before I could apologize." Childe made it sound like an inconvenience in his work life instead of one in his personal life.
"Like you'd apologize." Albedo muffled a scoff.
"Hey! Don't be like that! You know I...care about him, I'd apologize eventually!" Childe paused before saying care for an uncomfortably long 5 seconds.
"Yeah, okay." Albedo hung up, knowing he wasn't going to apologize to Zhongli for him. Childe needed to figure out his own shit himself.
Childe sighed when he heard the other end disconnect, he cursed under his breath as left his apartment.
Kaeya tapped his foot to the ground repeatedly as he (for once) was doing his work.
"Someones excited for their little date," The officer seated next to him smirk mockingly, "It's not a date," Kaeya snapped back.
"Hey, I'm not judging! We all have our types..." The officer put his hand on Kaeya's thigh for him to stop the tapping, Kaeya shot him a cold look which made him back off.
An hour past, Kaeya was getting inpatient. He was also pushing off asking the chief if he could have more cases (not because he wanted to do them, it was for Albedo, of course).
Kaeya gathered up the courage to stiffly get out of his chair and walk (uncomfortably) to the chiefs office.
Kaeya hesitated a knock, he soon got a 'come in' from the other side.
Kaeya came in and saw the chief had his head in his work with a stern face, "I'm sorry, is this a bad time?", "No, no, It's fine. I needed a break anyway.".
A fake, slightly unsettling, smile creep onto his face.
Kaeya felt himself start to sweat, he's only been here once or twice his whole (4 year) career.
"Please, take a seat." The chief welcomingly gestured to the chair in front of his dark wood desk, Kaeya nodded, trying to not show any signs of discomfort or vulnerability.
The chief put his laid his elbows on the desk and rested his head (more formally than comfortably) on his hands.
"What can I do for you, Mr. Alberich?"
