Kaeya walked into work feeling more bummed out than usual.
"What's wrong? Boyfriend break up with you?" The officer at the front desk (that now had bandages on his nose) teased, Kaeya glared at him and fixed his posture.
He heard him say something under his breath but was too caught up in his own mind to care at the time.
"You okay Kaeya?" An actual considerate officer asked, "I'm fine," Kaeya put on his most convincing smile as he sat down at his desk.
"You came to work late, are you sure you're okay?" He turned his whole chair the face Kaeya in a way of saying 'you can talk to me'.
"Oh, I just had a case." Kaeya said opening his laptop, he saw his hands trembling (which was strange, he's never seen himself tremble, even if it was the slightest. Was this discovery about liking Albedo really that horrifying to him?) He covered it by putting his coat sleeve over his hands.
The man gave him a pitiful look (which Kaeya hated) before turning away to do his own work.
And hour (or two, Kaeya wasn't keeping track of time) went by, he drowned himself in work to avoid thinking about earlier today.
"Kaeya," A colleague looked down at him, "Hm?" Kaeya blinked towards him.
"The chief wants to see you."
At this point, Kaeya's whole body was sweating.
He knocked on the door, but in his surprise he didn't get a 'come in' like he'd thought, instead Ayato opened the door with the devilish smile he always wore.
"Kaeya, walk with me." Ayato's light voice made it so Kaeya couldn't refuse (not like he would any other way).
"You know the file I gave to you?" Ayato glanced at Kaeya, "About the Fatui?" Kaeya nervously glanced back.
"Mhm," Ayato looked over everyone working, everyone working as they could in front of their superior.
"Do you know why I gave you that file?" Ayato's voice sounded as unsettling as a crack in the dark woods, Kaeya couldn't help but begin to panic, sweating and heart racing he replied; "No sir."
Ayato's grin only grew wider as he opened the door to where must've been the destination Ayato had called him for.
Kaeya looked at Ayato with worry, Ayato fed on that and closed the door behind them, leaving the room completely black.
Ayato flicked on the lights, revealing a bulletin board with (must've been) most of the Fatui members.
Kaeya eyes widened wider every second of scanning the board. No sign of Albedo, thankfully.
Ayato's shoe's clacked against the tiled floor as he walked up to the board, "I've been able to locate almost every Fatui member." Ayato pointed at a post-it note with a question mark on it, "I haven't been able to locate the headquarters...yet." Ayato looked back at Kaeya with hunger in his power flooded eyes.
"I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to say." Kaeya stammered out.
Ayato gave him a disapproving look, "Then let me make it clear, I want you to find that Fatui's headquarters and send me the coordinates so we can finally end this corrupted organization." Ayato walked over to Kaeya, smile slowly creeping on his face.
