Chapter 38 : We Both Died That Day.

Ayato quickly untied Kaeya, "Come on, you need to get out of the building." Ayato grabbed Kaeya's arm and started to pull him, but Kaeya wouldn't budge.

"What are you doing?!" Ayato looked over to him, "I.." Kaeya looked down, he didn't know how to save Albedo this time...but he needed to.

"Kaeya, whatever it is, we can deal with it later!" Ayato shouted, Kaeya didn't respond but he eventually just let Ayato pull him away.

When they got out of the room, there were policemen everywhere, he saw a bunch of Fatui members arrested already.

But he didn't see Albedo.

"Ayato I need to find someone," Kaeya said, "There's no time, you're wounded." Ayato looked down at the cut on Kaeya's neck and the blood all over Kaeya's face from Childe hitting him.

"No, Ayato, plea—" "Kaeya! This is no time to argue!" Ayato yelled, Kaeya went silent.

Albedo had fallen asleep not too long ago.

He woke up to the sound of gunshots being fired.

He gasped as he woke up, he saw an unfamiliar face in front of him...he narrowed his eyes at the individual in a police uniform who was shooting at Albedo's chains.

Isn't that Kaeya's coworker?..
Albedo didn't know if this was still the hallucinations or if it was real, it seemed real.

As the coworker break the chains with the bullets, both Albedo and the chains fell to the ground.

Albedo looked at his wrists, they were all red from hanging there for god knows how long.

Albedo then looked up at the person.

The coworker crouched down and said, "Nice to meet you, I'm Viktor." Viktor smirked as he lifted up Albedo's head by his hair.

"We've met before." Viktor stood up and pointed his gun at Albedo's head.

Albedo tried backing away but he ended up against the wall.

Albedo's legs felt numb but he managed to stand up, Viktors gun followed every move Albedo made.

Kaeya was walking with Ayato when he saw a slightly open door.

He didn't know what it was but he felt like he needed to go down there.

Kaeya slipped away from Ayato without him noticing and went down.

Before he could see who was down there, he heard talking, and what really surprised him was that it was Viktors voice.

"I'm gonna enjoy seeing the blood spill from your head." Viktor said.

Kaeya peeked over a little to see who he was talking to.

He let out a sharp gasp as he saw him. He was shocked, but happy to see him, even if he was covered with bruises. It felt like something inside him was filled when he saw him, he didn't know how to explain it, he only knew that he loved him.

Albedo..
Kaeya then looked over to Viktor again, he had his hand on the trigger, Kaeya had almost forgotten about what Viktor said earlier.

Kaeya ran down the stairs, "VIKTOR!" He shouted.

That surprised both Viktor and Albedo.

Albedo let down his guard staring at Kaeya, and Viktor had pulled the trigger.

The whole thing felt like it was in slow-motion, it didn't feel real, he couldn't accept that it was real.

"NO!" Kaeya watched as the bullet went into Albedo's chest and the blood began to flood out.

"I missed.." Viktor mumbled.

Albedo slowly felt his side, his vision began to go blurry as he felt himself fall to the ground. He could see Kaeya's face, he didn't like it. He didn't like seeing Kaeya like that. He wanted to see his annoying smile again, and his laugh. He didn't want the last thing he saw of Kaeya to be or him in fear.

Kaeya ran over to Albedo's body.

"No, no, no, no, no," Kaeya went on his knees and lifted Albedo up.

"Albedo wake up, come on, this isn't funny, wake up Albedo.." Kaeya pushed the hair out of Albedo's cold face, he felt his tears begin to flood out.

"I can't lose you too Albedo.. I've already lost so much, please just open your eyes for me.." Kaeya put his head against Albedo's.

"Albedo...please..." He let out a hitched breath as he brought Albedo into a hug, he was limp.

"Kaeya! There you are!" Ayato ran over to Kaeya, "We have to leave, the Fatui are fighting back!" Ayato pulled Kaeya off of Albedo.

"No! Stop it!" Kaeya shouted with tears running down his face.

When Ayato saw this he knew exactly what was happening.

"I know Kaeya, I know you want to stay but it isn't safe here, and you need medical attention." Ayato tried to speak in a calm voice.

"How could you say that to me when someone's been shot?!" Kaeya tried to get back to Albedo but Ayato had a firm grip on Kaeya.

Ayato didn't reply and instead he used all his strength to get Kaeya out of the building, even with all his shouting and struggling.

"Block the doors, make sure Kaeya doesn't get in." Ayato said to some of the officers.

"Hold him, I'll get the doctors." Ayato gave Kaeya to two police men.

"We have another one over here!" Ayato called over to the doctors.

The doctors nodded and went over, but when the police were giving him to the doctors Kaeya sped over to the door but was blocked by more police officers.

"He's still in there, we need to help him please! He can still make it I know he can, pleas—what the hell are you doing?! Get off me!" Kaeya shouted as the Doctors grabbed him and put him in the ambulance.

"I'm sorry sir but this is the only way you'll stay calm." Said one of the doctors as they put an anesthesia mask on Kaeya. He tried his hardest to get out of their grasp but he just couldn't.

He sobbed until he eventually fell asleep.
