Bernard was astonished that Alfina would grab a kiss from him. The elf sat in his office, fiddling with Santa's watch, still thinking about what had happened earlier.

KNOCK!

KNOCK!

The head elf perks up at the sound of the door; he sets the watch down on the desk and pushes himself out of the chair. The head elf opens the door to see Alfina standing there, "Santa's about to leave. Is the watch ready?" She slides her brown-blonde hair behind her ear.

"Yeah, it's ready," Bernard replies, walking to the desk and picking up the newly designed gadget. Alfina takes the watch and studies it, "Wow! It looks great," She hands it back to Bernard, and he sticks it in his pocket, "Come on,"

Santa clipped the reins on a grumbling Comet inside the stables, "Comet, because I don't want to take Prancer. I want to take a trip with you. When's the last time we had a cruise? I love you, buddy." Santa pats the back of Comet's neck.

"Besides, Prancer had too many apples. We know what that means." Santa slips on his gloves as Bernard and Alfina make their way toward him.

"Before you go, take a look at your watch." Bernard hands Santa the newly developed watch trimmed in red and gold.

"Hey! Can't go anywhere without that." Santa took the watch and marveled at the craftsmanship.

"I've done some work on it."

"It's beautiful. It really is." Santa grins at the elf, patting his arm. "You like it?" Bernard leaned back and forth on his feet, wondering if the boss truly appreciated it.

"The workmanship's fabulous."

"It has a power reserve that measures how much magic you have left. It's at ten." Bernard points to the front of the watch, revealing the numbers one to ten.

"That should be enough." Santa attached the watch to his wrist and slipped the glove back on.

"But if you use up any magic for any reason, the level drops. Santa, if it gets to zero - you won't be able to return to the North Pole." The elf cautions.

"Uh-oh." Comet mumbles, glancing between Santa and the head elf.

Santa waves Bernard and Alfina closer, "Then let's not let it get to zero!" He whispers, making sure no one else has listened. Bernard gives Santa a fake smile, his hands on his shoulders, "Now, look at me."

"Mm-hm?"

"What's the most important thing?" The elf requests.

"For you not to touch Santa?" The jolly man instructs.

Bernard promptly dropped his hands off Santa's shoulders and coughed, "For you to come back!"

"Thank you." Santa turns to Comet and jumps on the reindeer's back. Comet grumbles, then snort.

"Comet, please just chill out a little bit, okay? Come on! It's not like we're pullin' the sleigh. Right?" Santa grabbed the reins and leaned over to Comet, "There are no packages. It's a one-stop. And I think I might have forgotten we're going to go see Charlie." Comet squeals excitedly and dashes out of the stables, catching air.

Bernard and Alfina race to the stable doors, watching Santa leave the North Pole.

"Do you think he will find a wife in time?" Alfina turned to the elf next to her; his eyes latched on Santa's disappearing form.

"I hope so..." He averted his eye to Alfina. Then, throwing his arm over her shoulder, they walked out of the stables and back to the head elf's headquarters. As a gentleman, Bernard clicks the door open and allows Alfina to enter first, "Why, thank you, kind sir." She teased and curtsied before the elf, making him chuckle.

Alfina joins in moments later, leaning against the wall in laughter. The head elf's eyes twinkled, staring at the captivating woman before him. Her smile is ecstatic, and the laughter that passes her lips raises his spirits and her bright green eyes... the elf feels like he could get lost in them forever.

Bernard slowly moves toward Alfina, his brown eyes dilated as he gazes into her's. Alfina watched him closely, wondering what he was about to do. The tall elf extends his hand to her cheek and gently brushes his thumb down, causing a shiver to travel down her spine. Bernard leans in so carefully. So close that Alfina couldn't feel her legs anymore, couldn't feel her fingers or the cold or the emptiness of the room because all she could feel was him, everywhere in the room.

Bernard quickly glances at her pink lips, licking his own, then back to her green eyes, "Please..." He whispers, touching his forehead against hers. Alfina opened and closed her mouth, her voice refusing to work. The elf presses his mouth to her lips. His own are softer than anything she's ever known, smooth like a first snow fall; his lips tasted like mint and chocolate. Sweet, so effortlessly charming.

Alfina snakes her arms around his neck, one hand touches his hair, and the other holds onto him. The elf held on to her cheek and wrapped his other arm around her waist. Both of their eyes closed, relishing the moment.

KNOCK!

KNOCK!

Dazed, the two pulled away, gasping for air. Bernard adjusts his hat as Alfina clears her throat, her hand floating above her mouth. The elf steps back, turning to the door, "Who is it?" He barked, unsettled that they were interrupted. The door creaks open, and Curtis pokes his head through, "The toy Santa is in the room, and- did I interrupt something?" The young elf frowns, observing the two in front of him.

"No. You didn't; why would you ask that?" Bernard flattered, stealing a glance at Alfina. Curtis wasn't convinced, "Then why do Alfina's lips seem swollen?" He steps into the room, crossing his arms. Alfina touches her red, swollen lips, and her eyes widen, "It must be an allergic reaction to something, Curtis." Her voice sounded tight and small as she swept her eyes over Curtis's shoulder, refusing to make eye contact with the elf.

Curtis shifted his gaze to the head elf and back to the twenty-year-old, "Okay..." Then, turning back to the door, he answered, "Well, come on!" He waves his hand over his shoulder. Bernard and Alfina sifted their stare toward each other before following the Number two elf to Santa's office, where the toy hid.
