Alfina is now past livid. She felt Bernard scream, his throat becoming hoarse. But that's not what angered her. Her side ached like a knife stabbed her, and her face throbbed. Krampus has gone too far on Bernard. Alfina could feel him shiver from the cold every day. She theorised that Krampus is chaining him outside all day as some form of punishment. She peers up at the top to see she still has ways to go. She grew worried for Bernard. At night, she dreamt of a cave. A cave that she saw twelve years ago. She saw two wooden tables and chains on every wall inside her dream.

And blood.

She gazes down at her stomach to see the bump enlarge and gently rubs it, "It will be okay, baby. We're going to find your daddy and bring him home." She cooed softly, feeling the baby kick. Five days ago, she looked like she had reached four months of pregnancy. Alfina groans and continues trudging up the mountain with her bow in her hand, "I'm hungry! I cannot believe that I am craving sugar cookies with peppermint!" Alfina plopped on the snowy ground and rubbed her stomach circularly, "Oh, Bernard," She whispered, "Please n- coile yare ni hir tye. I don't want our child growing up not knowing who their father is..."

Her hood slightly covers her face as she looks at her bump, "I hope your father will be strong." The wind howled as Alfina stood up with her weapons. She took a step up the mountain and felt the baby kick again. A shooting pain stabs her in the back, and she doubles over. An image appears before her; Bernard is covered in blood, his hair matted and dirty. The vision showed Krampus dragging Bernard outside and chaining him to the shackles in the snow. His body, ribs cracked and showing, was deathly white, his lips became blue, and Krampus laughed before returning to the cave. Bernard had an exhausted look, and his body shivered violently.

"He's getting hypothermia!" Alfina gasped once the image disappeared. Then, grabbing her bow, she dashed through the snow, moving quickly.

CRUNCH!

The pregnant mother freezes and listens closely around her to ensure she doesn't make that noise.

CRUNCH!

Alfina snapped her head around to see what was following behind her. The sound of snow crunching alerted her that something small was heading toward her. Reaching over her shoulder, Alfina takes an arrow and aims it at the sound. A pink nose pops up from the snow, and large eyes stare back at the mother. Alfina lowers her bow in confusion, "A-a rabbit?!" She scoffs, returns the arrow to the bag, and shakes her head at the white rabbit. The rabbit bounces the snow off its head and hops away.

Alfina takes a deep breath and watches the rabbit disappear. The mother pushed on and wrapped her cloak around her tighter, facing back to the mountain. It wasn't just the wind that chilled her, and she knew it. "With twenty days till Christmas, and Krampus had to take his fuckin' revenge!" Alfina thought angrily to herself. A growl escapes from her throat while the baby kicks again. Alfina peered up at the sun and noticed how low it had dropped. It is nearly nightfall. She reached inside her cloak and pulled out a hot package. Then opening it up, the smell of a delicious bread roll wavered in the air, "I am impressed, Curtis. Thank you." Alfina muttered, impressed by Curtis's magic.

Taking a bite of the roll, the taste of peppermint and sugar cookies attacked her taste buds. Curtis has outdone himself. If she's hungry for something odd, a bread roll would appear for her. "Mmmm..." Alfina hummed in satisfaction and licked the rest of the crumbs off her fingers. The baby kicked twice to show its contentment with the food. She gently pats her stomach, "I know you're happy now, baby." She whispered.

Alfina takes in her surroundings and spots a tree with its branches down low to provide enough shelter for her to rest underneath. Crawling under the branches, she sets her ancestor's gun next to her, along with the bow. Alfina pulls her knees close and wraps her arms around herself. The moon appears from behind the clouds, and its light hits the snowy peak. The pregnant mother sighed; her eyes swelled up, and she wept. All emotion she tried to hold in broke. Being pregnant, having her boyfriend kidnapped, and being the protector of the elves, exhausted her to the point of wanting to give up.

KICK!

Alfina rubs her stomach, the baby. She's not just doing this for them but for her child as well. Alfina leans against the tree's trunk and closes her eyes to rest.

Krampus watched through the snow globe inside the cave. "So, that pathetic elf is an expecting father?" A dark chuckle passes through his gray lips, "Let's pay Evergreen a visit." The Christmas Devil sets the glass ball in his coat and makes his way to the torture room, where the sick and pale elf lies on the strapped table. Krampus leans over to Bernard with a grin, "Hello, Evergreen!" He spoke a little cheerfully.

Bernard's eyes, unfocused and glassy, slowly blinked at Krampus; his skin beaded with sweat, and his lips cracked and bleeding. Krampus widened his grin, revealing his rotten sharp yellow teeth, "Your little girlfriend is searching for you on the mountain," He pulled out the glass ball from his coat and revealed Alfina sitting under a tree, "And, she looks like she's expecting a child." He continued, watching Bernard's eyes widening in surprise.

"Your child..."

Terror gripped the elf's heart, and he fearfully turned his eyes to Krampus, "D-don't... h-hur-rt... her..." Bernard wheezed painfully. A rawness scratches the elf's throat. Bernard's body shivered, quickly breaking into a fever from his infected wounds. Krampus laughed and held the snow globe over Bernard, "No promises, Evergreen." Krampus smirked and summoned his dark Christmas Magic. Bernard watched helplessly as Krampus used his magic to shake the mountains.

RUMBLE!

The cave shook violently, and they could hear crashing outside. Bernard glances at the glass ball seeing Alfina glance up in alarm, "NOOO!!!" Bernard screamed hoarsely.

------------------------------------------------------------

RUMBLE!

"Hm?" Alfina peaks her head out from the branches to see an avalanche tumbling down the mountain, "SHIT!" She screams, grabs the gun and bow, and tries to move out of the way fast, but the avalanche buries her deep.

------------------------------------------------------------

"Noooo..." Bernard sobbed. His girl, his child! The elf couldn't stop trembling over the loss of Alfina and his unborn baby. Krampus laughed darkly, watching the elf break before him, "Now she's out of the way." He jeers and walks out of the room, leaving the elf to mourn desperately.
