When Fuyuhiko began slurring his words, and chewing on his sleeve with a look of boredom on his face, Gundham had assumed he was regressed.

Which was why it was so particularly strange for him to be in the kitchen right now, using a knife to cut up vegetables for lunch.

If he was hungry— then Gundham had no doubt he would try to make something on his own— he was an independent regressor...

Though, he needed to make sure that Fuyuhiko's safety was ensured, regardless of how independent he wanted to be. So, he made his way into the kitchen, glancing over at Fuyuhiko.

"My dark prince... May I ask why you're using a knife? That is quite a sharp utensil..."

Fuyuhiko looked up for a moment, scoffing and forcing his gaze back to the vegetables.

"What? Not allowed to use a cooking utensil anymore?" He responded, his tone harsh. It was all too clear that his voice was wavering, though, and the lack of swearing was another indication he was regressed.

Gundham blinked, narrowing his eyes.

"There is no need to be so irritated. I had just thought that since you were regre—"

"No," Fuyuhiko was quick to affirm, and he set the knife down, "I'm... not regressed. You're wrong."

Gundham had to stifle a chuckle. The telltale signs were quite obvious for him to pick up on— but perhaps that was just because he knew what to look for.

"If you say so," He replied, simply walking over to stand beside him, "What are you making, anyways?"

Fuyuhiko huffed, crossing his arms.

"I was... making a sandwich. But I had to cut up the tomato. And the lettuce."

"Really?" Gundham hummed, taking the knife and resuming the chopping of the vegetables, "You could just put the whole tomato on there, could you not?"

Fuyuhiko gave a small smile, slowly beginning to giggle at that.

"No, that's not how it wo— Hey! Don't need help!"

Gundham shook his head.

"No, you don't. But I think I do. Could you go get the bread for me, dark angel?"

Fuyuhiko suddenly looked irritated, pressing his lips together and shaking his head.

"Gundham..."

Gundham only needed to glance over and get one look at the boy beside him before he sighed.

"Talk to me, Fuyuhiko."

Fuyuhiko hesitated, especially at the lack of a pet name. He knew this was being treated seriously now.

"I'm not little. I... I'm older than you're treatin' me..."

Gundham kept his gaze on him for a moment, pausing for a moment and then kneeling down to face him.

"There's no need to get upset. I don't mind if you regress. You don't have to pretend to be older than you are."

Fuyuhiko quivered for a moment. He looked anxious, and he looked overwhelmed, but he didn't show it, nor did he say much about it. He only reached out to hold onto Gundham's hand, clinging close beside him.

That was quite the hint he had slipped, further than he already was.

Fuyuhiko was not a clingy regressor. But we all have our days, Gundham supposed.

"See? You're fine," Gundham assured him, before gesturing over to the counter, "Now, do you want to be a big help and go get the bread? It's not much of a sandwich without that."

Fuyuhiko only gave a short laugh, before de-attaching himself from Gundham and going over to get the bread.

Gundham gave a sigh, a grin forming on his face as he resumed cutting the vegetables for Fuyuhiko.

Things like this happen. And while Gundham was curious as to why Fuyuhiko had done his best to be older, intentionally stopping his regression, he wouldn't dare ask.

If Fuyuhiko told him, he'd be happy to listen.

But for now, as he sees Fuyuhiko toss the bread on the counter and run to go grab a plate, he felt like things would surely be alright.

The grin on his face mirrored amusement.

Yes, this would be fine.

These things always were.
