The kids cheering, the music playing, the sun almost hiding at the same time the slight breeze became colder. It was quite the perfect day, and if you were honest you had a lot of fun going out with the group of boys. They were loud, especially Seungyoun, but you knew it wouldn't have been the same without them. The key word is "was": Hangyul suggested that you should all try out the haunted house with Dohyon and Hyeongjun trembling while hiding behind him, both giggling nervously when Yohan asked if they were alright.
"It wasn't that bad, although there are quite good jumpscares." Wooseok talked calmly, although the end of his shirt was a little bit crumbled, as if he had been holding to it for quite some time.
"He's trying to play it cool but I saw him flinch all the time." Dongpyo added as you and Seungwoo gave them the sugar candies they had asked for. "You two should go since you gave us candy."
"Yeah, and we already took care of the younger ones so it's going to be more entertaining seeing if you two get scared." There was a mocking tone in Seungyoun's voice, followed by Minhee, Eunsang and Junho nodding in a not-so-discrete way.
You smiled forcedly at him. "I don't think it's necessary..."
"Ah, but I want to go." Seungwoo interrupted you, his eyes going like a puppy as he turned to you. "I wanted to accompany Dongpyo actually, but now I'm curious about it. Let's go, they can go and find some place to sit in the park."
The rest didn't even let you complain, taking their leader's wishes as orders and pushing both of you to the haunted house, a silly grin on your best friend's face. He knew that going to a place where everything was completely dark, constantly surrounded by weird noises and people and machines randomly jumping out wasn't your favorite thing.
As both of you waited in line, you started rambling. "Why would you say that? They are like minions following you, I don't want to do this..."
"Hey, it's time to face this thing and besides, I'm here! We are both grownups now, it won't be scary. Trust me."
As if. Everyone that got out were either laughing or being laughed at, and there was this feeling that you would end up in the second group. Finally it was your turn to get inside, the dark atmosphere sending shivers down your spine. There was a cold breeze surrounding you, and every now and then you were doubting where to put your steps. At the beginning, the silence was incredibly loud somehow, yet as you two walked forward the crippling sounds started to get closer and closer until someone crossed running right in front of you, and your fight or flight response activated. You grabbed Seungwoo's sleeve and pulled, running towards a corner with subtle light only to change direction when suddenly someone stood there.
Both entered a room, scanning the walls and the exits, apparently being an abandoned classroom, before reading a sign that said "do not make a sound or they will find you." Needless to say, your whole body went cold but even then you were pretty quiet. However, Seungwoo wasn't. When you turned around, his eyes were big due to trying to distinguish the shadows, mouth agape letting out his harsh breathing and filling the room with it.
"Seungwoo, calm down, we need to keep quiet..." He stole a glance at you, flashing a small smile but still didn't stop, steps coming closer. You put your hand on his mouth, but he backed up and threw what seemed to be some books to the floor.
"Sorry... Maybe it is a little bit scary." You were both muttering replies until one of the doors opened suddenly, both rushing and standing straight against the wall, using one of the desks as a barricade. You could feel Seungwoo trembling lightly and trying to hold back his breathing, but it was useless after he let out a yelp when the ghost moved one of the chairs aggressively.
After a second of hesitation, you grabbed the neck of his shirt. "Trust me." You muttered before pressing your lips against his, feeling him tense up before relaxing, his breathing steadying as he placed his hands on your waist.
A few seconds passed, or maybe more, you weren't completely sure, but when you pulled apart, the so called ghost wasn't anywhere to be seen. Secretly, you were thankful to whoever was wearing the costume for not finding any of you two. After checking that there weren't any other unwanted guests, you indicated Seungwoo to follow you without looking back.
As you walked down the dark hall, you started to realize what had just happened. It wasn't the first time you had kissed, once being many years ago during a dare in a party, but since then none of you had addressed the situation since it wasn't that relevant, but now... You screamed when a guy started crawling towards you at an insane speed only to make a curve and disappear, but Seungwoo remained completely unfazed. Luckily, it was only a few meters more and it was the end, a few expectant faces waiting for you outside.
"The guy crawling was terrifying, right?!" Hyeongjun opened his eyes wide, nodding multiple times and you could feel your cheeks blushing since the rest of the boys tried to hide their laughs. "She screamed as well!"
"I feel like something good happened there." Minhee pointed out while pointing at Seungwoo and his dumbfounded smile, Dongpyo observing you with scrutiny.
"Oh? Y/n blushed even more!" Eunsang wasted no time in exposing you, your expression quickly changing and preparing to put some excuses before Junho pulled out his phone.
"Ah, Wooseok said that they found a good spot."
"Hangyul said it's not as good as the one he had chosen but Yohan complained about it." Dohyon added, scrolling past the messages sent to the group chat.
"Let's get going then, the show it's starting soon."
Everyone started walking at the command of their leader, rambling and laughing while remembering their expressions and reactions in the haunted house before. None of them had gotten inside of the room that you and Seungwoo visited, so they proceeded to bombard you with questions about how it was. It wasn't hard to explain until they asked what happened with the ghost that entered, both exchanging a look before agreeing to say that "it just left".
You noticed Seungyoun jumping and waving his arms around so that everyone saw the spot, quickly sitting down, the younger ones anxiously waiting for the show to start. It felt nice to see them all together, the smiles on their faces and the giggles filling the air. It was almost like being in a family, with Eunsang eating Dohyon's food, Dongpyo and Hyeongjun snapping a thousand selfies, Junho staring at the game that Minhee was playing on his phone, Hangyul and Seungyoun teasing Wooseok while Yohan simply laughed at them. Of course your spot was chaotic and incredibly loud, but you wouldn't want it any other way.
A jolt ran your body as you felt Seungwoo's hand touching yours, his eyes sweet while staring at the rest of the boys and you didn't need anything else to know that he was thinking the exact same thing. The fireworks started, the sky becoming the most beautiful painting, everyone keeping silence as they stared up in awe, but you could feel one pair of eyes on you. It was impossible to hide the small smile spreading on your lips as you intertwined your fingers with Seungwoo's, melting as you felt him tighten up the grip a bit.
You trust him, and he trusts you. That is all that matters.
