We were all born with a dark circular band on our right wrist that shows time. The first people found it terrifying for they thought that it showed how long they have to live. Some had less years than the others. The ones with the shortest time shown were on the edge as they thought of their life passing in just a mere number of hours.

They weren't wrong. It just showed how long they have to live before they meet their other half for the first time–their soulmate, per se.

From that point on, they would live their lives together in the warmth of each other.

"Sungjae-ah!" You cried out in frustration as he once again teased you that you would be meeting your "soulmate" in three days. It's been a while since you last saw each other and the first thing he did was to yank your right arm to check your timer.

"Sungjae-ah?" He quirked a brow. "Oppa. Sungjae oppa," the taller male corrected. He liked to rub it in your face that he was older than you. But somehow, it always felt like there was something more to it. You never dwelled on it because you felt that it wasn't right to think of such things.

You have a soulmate waiting for you, if the timer on your wrist is correct. You'd be at a crossroad if you decided to acknowledge the underlying meaning of Sungjae's persistent want to be called "oppa" by you.

You wouldn't deny that he wasn't good looking. Hell, pigs would start flying and he'd still be one of the most handsome men you'll meet in your life. Even if he makes those funny but annoying faces, his good looks never go away. It must be because he was blessed with such amazing genes when he was conceived.

"But you're being absolutely annoying right now so I don't think so," You huffed. "We haven't seen each other in a year and the first thing you do is to check the timer on my wrist. It's unfair that you refuse to show me yours!"

Sungjae just laughed as he draped his left arm around your shoulder. "Why are you getting so worked up? I just miss seeing you and teasing you. I had no one to tease aside from my hyungs for a year. Can you even imagine that?"

You rolled your eyes at his antics. "Great to know you missed teasing me. Sadly, I don't miss it," the sarcasm rolled off your tongue naturally. Sarcasm was the only defense you have against Sungjae, the teasing machine.

He shook his head as he started to walk towards the cafe you both love with you in tow.

"I really missed you, you know? I mean..." He awkwardly started. Sungjae was even laughing as he tried to ease the awkwardness he was feeling. "One year without you was too long. Sure, I've been busy with BTOB promotions and other solo work but not being able to see you as regularly as I want to nor being able to talk to you every night made the year drag. Although time did seem to speed up when I knew I only had a month left before I see you again,"

You knew Sungjae wasn't your soulmate but he never failed to make you blush. He made your heart thump quickly whenever he said sweet things like that. Knowing him, he had a hard time saying all that in one go. You wrapped your right arm around his torso as a gesture of thanks.

"One year ago, you were an awkward guy whenever you spew out honest things like that. What happened, huh? Huh?" You teased as you glanced up at him. His cheeks were tainted pink. "But... I missed you too," you honestly said. A genuine smile lit up Sungjae's face as he turned to look at you.

"I'm glad to have my best friend back," he said. There was something wrong with how he said best friend. It was almost as if he detested the word. Once again, you paid no mind to it. "A one year exposure trip in Europe did you well,"
