Even if he had been the undead for centuries, Wonwoo loved nothing more than walking into a library and reading for hours on end. Of course, given his condition, he had built a large collection dating from times before he was born, then reborn and to the present day to read in his private study.

But entering an actual library still couldn't be matched by his attempts for comfort at home. Wonwoo would visit the large metropolitan library once a month, always when he was fully satiated. Much as he had an affinity for books, he also had high standards of where he ate his dinner. And after one slip up three hundred years ago where blood splattered onto a book his prey had been perusing, he had ensured that damage to sacred property would never happen again by his hand.

Or fangs.

Still, he would opt to find himself a quiet corner with a stack of books once he had finish selecting them and read in peace. The library was generally quiet on the fourth floor, as he had learned from many years of visiting it, and he was pleased to see his usual seating area was empty, inviting him forward for his stay. He planned to do nothing except reading the stack he placed down on the table beside him until it was closing time. There were no windows where he chose to settle down, and even though he had taken his medication that allowed him to day walk, he still preferred the darker shadows this corner possessed. It set the mood as he opened an old tale he had read many times now, smiling to himself at the sound of the hardbound books' spine creaking with his efforts.

"Hello, old friend," he murmured before getting lost in the world presented to him.

It was an hour into his reading when you entered his space, sitting down with your small selection of books a few feet away from him. Wonwoo glanced up at you and shared a polite smile before delving back into his book, finishing it and moving onto the next.

When Wonwoo read, he became too engrossed in what was happening to control all of his extra powers. Much like a human would when they got hooked on something, they would read with bated breath, flipping through the pages with heightened anticipation. And whilst he was no longer just a man, he still possessed this gift.

What he hadn't counted on or was oblivious to, was that you had watched him read at rapid speed, flipping the pages faster than anyone else could. Wonwoo had read a third book by the time you were finishing your first and you let out a surprised noise.

It startled him away from the old-fashioned romance he was envisioning. "Why, you're a monster!"

Pressing further into the back of the chair he sat within, he felt contempt course throughout him. Wonwoo knew vampires were more common in this modern age than when he had been turned. He faced discrimination, much like the rest of his kind did. Yet, he hated it. And you had now ruined his mood entirely.

However, you were seemingly unaware of the dark force glowering from every crevice of the man. Getting up, you approached him boldly, a smile playing on your lips. "I've never seen anyone read as fast as you can! Did you actually read every page?!"

Wonwoo blinked, now entirely confused.

And you were excited. "Sorry, I know you were reading and I've interrupted that but I was watching you before. You flipped through at least ten pages in a minute!"

"Oh, uh, I guess since I've read this book before, I know what's going to happen so I can skim it."

"Have you read those ones before as well?" you wondered, surprised by his answer. And then you groaned, making Wonwoo flinch in fright.

No one had managed such a reaction out of him in decades.

"Oh, how I wish I could read that fast! I love reading but I'm so slow at it. I envy you."

"Me?" he repeated and you nodded animatedly. Wonwoo rearranged his glasses on his nose and then chuckled. "I wouldn't envy me."

"But you have an amazing talent!"

He continued to smirk. "I have many."

"Then I have every reason to be jealous! Do you have any handy hints that I could use to improve my own reading skill?"

"Just enjoy it as you are already. I'm rather envious of your current ability."

Your cheeks turned rosy. "Oh, nonsense."

"I'd much rather be just like you. There's so much I miss out on just because I can read books at a rapid rate."

"Well, I like you just how you are," you announced firmly and had he the ability, Wonwoo's cheeks would have flushed with colour. "I better go. Will you be here this time next month too? I noticed you come every month and so I've been slowly working up the confidence to approach you."

"Really? I hadn't noticed you before."

You giggled. "It's because your head is always in a book!"

Wonwoo laughed with you and then nodded. "I'll be here next month."

"Good, well uh, I hope I'll see you then."

"You will," he confirmed and you grinned, stepping back a little clumsily before you waved and collected your things, soon departing after.

And he watched after you with a smile on his face, knowing that next month he had more than the books to look forward to.
