While Mom and Dad were packing, I went down to the lake for the last time.

"Skrael, where are you?" I asked.

"Right here, little deer," he said, appearing in front of me.

I gasped, "Don't do that," I said, throwing a snowball at him.

He laughed and deflected it. I smiled and then my face fell.

"What's the matter?" he asked.

"We're leaving today," I said, "I'm not going to see you again."

"Then let's make the most of today," He said, holding out his hand.

I took it. He smiled and then flew into the air. I pushed away from him. I had wings of my own since I was part Neverfairy.

"You don't just fly into the air with someone," I said, crossing my arms.

He floated around.

"How are you doing that?" I asked.

"Follow me," he said.

He floated down between two fallen trees. I sighed and flew down.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked.

"Somewhere special," he said.

He stopped at another lake. My eyes went wide as I stared out at the large crystal like waterfalls pouring down. My heart seemed to stop at the marvelous structures.

	"Wanna join me?" I asked

"Wanna join me?" I asked.

I smiled. We ran out to the lake. I took one step on the water, and it froze instantly.

"Come on," he said, floating over the ice.

I stepped onto the ice and walked towards him.

"Magic," I said, "Are you a wizard?"

"Close," He said.

He floated over to the waterfalls and placed his hand in them. They froze. I smiled and joined him. We skated around on the frozen lake. Then we hopped around the trees for a while, covering them in frost. We stayed out till sunset when the lake looked most beautiful. We sat in the trees on the highest tree branch.

"Can I glow in the dark?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Cool," I said.

I placed my head on his shoulder just like the time we met.

"This place is beautiful," I said.

"It's where I come to be by myself."

"I wish we could never leave," I said.

I glanced over at the setting sun and then at my parents stuffing suitcases into the car.

"I've got to go," I said.

Skrael and I flew down the tree and landed on the ground. I hugged him tightly.

"I don't want to leave you," I said, tears sliding down my face.

He bent down till he was my size and wiped a tear from my face.

"You're sure you can't come with us?"

"I'm sorry, little deer," He said.

I squeezed him tighter. I could hear my parents calling me.

"Please don't forget me," I said.

He pulled the hood off.

"I'll never forget you," he said. He pulled me into a hug. I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Are you sure?"

He kissed me on the cheek. "Of course, Phoenix," he said. He raised a spear shaped staff in the air and a swirl of wind, lightning, and magic surrounded him. Tears slid down my face as he disappeared. I dropped to the ground. And that was the last I'd ever seen of Skrael.

...

Or so I thought.
