Lucifer POV

I entered the house somewhere around one o'clock.

"What are you doing home early?" Mom asked.

She gripped my arm tightly and dug her nails into my skin.

"Did you get expelled?"

"If you care so much about my education, then why don't you let me sleep there. Besides, I didn't get expelled. Something happened. Apparently I glacier went crazy and a nimbus attacked the school, no problem."

"Glacier? Nimbus?"

"Like I said. It was no problem. I didn't give a flip about it then, I don't give a flip about it now."

"Oof, what happened?" Thrax said, sliding down the stair railings.

"Like I said, some crazy hooded nimbus attacked some people. And a glacier broke the darn building. There isn't much more to say."

Mom walked away.

"What did the glacier look like?" Thrax asked.

"What? Do you know her?"

"Just curious."

"From what I heard, the glacier knew the nimbus. Called him Skrael," Onyx said, hopping down the stairs.

Thrax's eyes went wide when he heard that name.

"I feel like I've heard that name before," I said.

"You know everyone. Yet everyone hates you," Onyx said.

"And I hate everyone, you forgot that bit." I turned to face Thrax, "Still working with the Evil Angel, are you?"

"I don't work for her, I just keep Nereid in line."

"And break into locks," I added.

And speaking of locks, you'll never guess who showed up next. The lock on Proteus' study clicked and he stepped through the door. My father scared everyone. But I couldn't exactly call him 'father' since we weren't blood related.

"What is this about a wild nimbus?" he said.

Thrax, Onyx, and I bowed. Father narrowed his eyes. I actually either address him as father or sometimes by his first name directly—Proteus. Proteus is one of Neptune's moons. I figured it best fit him since Neptune is cold and distant. Like Proteus.

"Stand, children," he said.

'We're your kids. Not you're slaves.'

We stood up.

"Speak," he ordered.

"A nimbus of some sort broke into the school and attacked several students and teachers. No one died, but a few were injured...sir."

"And?"

"And an emotional glacier broke the school with spikes of ice. That's why I'm home early, the school was incredibly damaged."

Proteus narrowed his eyes and passed us, his cape dragging on the ground. I scoffed when he left.

"Who does he think he is?" I said.

"The King of Dark Ones apparently," Thrax said, tapping his finger on the table.

"What a selfish jerk."

"You cannot talk about Dad, that way," Onyx said.

"Are you rooting for him now?" I said.

Onyx shook her head, "Well, he loves me."

"No one loves you," Thrax said.

"You mean no one loves us," I said.

Thrax hissed like a snake, crossing his arms. "Don't remind me."
