"Terry, what happened to you?!" Celeste asked when we went back inside.
"Nothing," I said, sitting at my desk in Study Hall.
I quickly opened my notebook for history of magic and began rewriting my notes. As I wrote, I felt something drop in my hair. Something warm, liquidy. It was like warm water from a faucet. I looked above me and saw nothing but the ceiling tiles. I shrugged it off and began humming quietly.
"I can give you my notes if you want," Cheryl said.
"No, I'm fine," I said, trying not to talk to anyone.
While a lot of the other students in the class were chatting with people quietly, I was sitting at my desk doing my notes and occasionally looking up at the ceiling to see why I kept feeling drops. Annoyed, I placed my water bottle under where the ceiling tile would fall as an experiment. Imagine my surprise when I saw...red. Drops of red liquid staining my water like an evil Kool-aid mixture. I gasped and backed away.
I quickly removed the water bottle from the ceiling and looked up as I saw more drops of blood fall from the ceiling. A drop landed on the side of my face, and it slid down like a tear. I wiped the side of my face and looked at my arm which was now a smeared red. I brought my hands to my mouth.
"What is it, Phoenix?" Celeste asked.
"Blood," I said, shuddering as real tears slid down my face.
Celeste POV
The janitor didn't seem to want anything to do with us. Maybe he was mad at us for so frequently sneaking into the janitor's closet. While everyone was sitting in the corner staring at the ceiling, some laughing, some beginning to complain of a strange smell pervading the classroom.
"So let me get this straight...you want me to remove the tile because you think there's a body up there?" The janitor said.
"I know it sounds ridiculous, but-" I tried to say.
"It's not ridiculous!" Phoenix said, tears in her eyes, "There's blood in the ceiling tiles!"
"You have no proof that there's a body in there," The janitor said. "How do I know you're telling the truth, and that these gruesome murders haven't got to your head?"
"Just check the tiles!" Phoenix exclaimed.
The janitor shrugged.
"How do you know someone isn't playing a prank? It's Carrie all over again!"
"Oh, foam off the mouth!" Lucifer said, walking towards Phoenix's desk. "You won't even bother to check." He stood on her desk and lifted the tile."
All of our eyes went wide as Lucifer backed away from the horribly disfigured and bloodied body that fell from the tiles. Terry began shaking. Some people in the class vomited. I took slow steps towards the body to see who it was. Lucifer put an arm around me when I finally realized our Jane Doe. It wasn't unknown though. It was Nora Willis—Reggie's girlfriend. I don't even know how I noticed that it was her since the body had no head. Reggie stormed out of the room.
"Oh, my gosh," I said.
The janitor fainted himself.
... Everyone in the school got to go home early. The teachers feared that whoever killed Nora might've still been in the school. Mom embraced us all once we arrived at the house. Apparently she'd already heard.
Phoenix POV
I ran into Bellroc's arms once I arrived at the fortress.
"What happened? Are you okay?" She said.
I shook my head. Skrael floated into the room.
"What happened?" He asked.
Bellroc shook her head.
Nari walked into the room with a sad expression on her face.
"Have you not heard?" She said. "There's been another death."
