EIGHT YEARS LATER:

"Do you know what today is?" a voice said, standing over me.

I sat up and punched them in the face. Terri hit the floor. He rolled over and stood up.

"First day of school, I'm aware," I said.

Terri smiled and pulled me off the bed.

"We have to make a good impression otherwise we're going to spend the rest of the school year in social Siberia."

I sat up and shook my hair in an attempt to straighten it.

"Fine," I said. I stood up and walked down the stairs to eat breakfast.

------------------------------

"So first day of highschool," Terri said as we stood outside the steps.

"Magic highschool," I corrected. I pulled my long hair behind my shoulders.

"You ready?"

"Obviously," I said, walking inside the building.

----------------------------------

"Are you a glacier?" a girl once asked me.

"Yes?" I said.

"I'm an aquarius," she said. She hopped into the chair in front of me. The girl was a tiger. She had shoulder length blue hair and deep blue eyes. "The name's Amaya," she said, "Amaya Teen."

"I'm Terry," I said.

"You're going to love it here. I mean, this is my first year, obviously, but you're going to like it here. I mean, I like it here. So you might like it here. I'm just saying. You're going to love it here. So maybe...just...do I talk too much?"

"No," I said, "You have plenty of emotion and you feel the need to express it."

Amaya smiled and chuckled.

"You're the nicest person I've met here."

"Thanks, I've got to show you my-"

The cafeteria doors burst open and three girls all with multicolored hair walked through the door. The one in the middle had pink and purple hair. Amaya rolled her eyes.

"Pay no mind to her. That's Celeste, Gia, and Jessica. Celeste is the principal's daughter. Everyone's favorite. Top of the social food chain."

"Looks like a brat," I said.

"Yeah, you're right. However, she's released several albums. All of the following she claims do not have explicit language, but involve her talking about very voluptuous topics, wearing the most inappropriate outfits I've ever seen, and apparently her mother is fine with it."

"Weird," I added, giving Celeste a confused glance.

Celeste walked down the hall wearing a really short skirt, sunglasses, and a crop top.

"If you want to become popular, befriend her. She's exceedingly powerful. Light one."

"I don't care about being popular," I said.

"You sound like a very wise teenager," Amaya said smiling. "What's your next class?"

"Conjuration/summation."

Amaya gasped. "Me too!"

"Making friends already?" Terri said, sitting next to me.

"This is my brother," I said, "Terri."

"Amaya."
